Come participate in some great science filled activities!
Open for All to ParticipateHands-On Activities Led by Ison Springs Teachers
Color Infusion: Let your inner artist and scientist soar by infusing and turning everyday materials into a colorful explosion.
Now You See It, Now You Don’t: Come be a secret agent and create secret codes and messages to hide from others with invisible ink.
Flinking: To sink, or not to sink. Explorers will use different materials to try and make their object flink in the water, not sink or float, but hover in the middle.
Magnet Madness: Students will use magnets and a variety of objects to explore the effects of magnetism. / Big Canyon Balloon
Students encounter the world of weathering, erosion and deposition as they participate to create landforms such as a delta and a barrier island with our 15' tall inflatable canyon model! Investigate topics which include constructive vs destructive forces, potential vs kinetic energy, renewable vs non-renewable resources, and rocks vs minerals.
Workshops are available to the first 30 students to register at the sign in table. There will be two sessions of each. Tickets will be given at the entrance if you would like to attend. Only one workshop per student.
Workshop #1 – Boat Basics
In this lesson, students will discover the properties of buoyancy through experimentation with shapes and weight. Taking a firsthand look at how a boat works will help students develop critical thinking methods that willprovide a general overview of boat building basics. / Workshop #2 - 3-2-1…BLASTOFF!
In this session, we will focus on Aerospace Engineering. Students use the Engineering Design Process to design, create, test, and refine a flying machine. They will get a glimpse into the world of rocketry and aerodynamics. They will design, build, and test their model rocket using an air-powered launching device.
