Welcome back. Term two has started with a hiss and a roar, especially when it comes to the weather.
Welcome
We would like to welcome Wade Oliver who has turned five and started school yesterday and also Keegan and Karlson Taylor who have moved to Hunua and also started yesterday.
Behavioural Management Survey
Thank you so much to those of you who took the time to come and comment on our questions in regard to Behaviour Management. I have written it up as a Power Point programme and invite people along to a parents meeting to view the results. From the comments you have given us, the team is working to put together a procedure for behaviours and this will be presented at the meeting.
Parent Meeting Thursday 12th May 6.30pm in the Library.
Vandalism
It was disappointing to discover that we have been hit by vandalism again. Two of the blue porcelain balls in the Library garden were damaged over the break. If anyone knows anything about this could they please let us know? It will be a shame if we have to make the school out of bounds for everyone after school hours.
Some children are damaging school resources. calculators have been broken (snapped in half – key pads pulled off); desks have been graffitied and holes dug into them.
Please encourage children to respect property and help them appreciate the resources we have.
School Uniform
We are now into the winter terms. Beanies are available from the office for $10.00. Please supply your child with a spare change of clothing this term as there are often puddles and mud for the children to contend with. They need a change of clothing for playing on the field over this term too.
Recitations
These are the major focus for this term. Children need to select a poem and can use dress and props to support their poem. Further information will be sent home by your classroom teacher. Start early and get practising.
School Production
We have a School production in Term 3 and we will be auditioning for parts in the near future. The whole school will be involved in this to varying degrees and we will be looking for support with costumes, makeup etc.
Kiwi Sports
We continue to be involved in ‘Kiwisports’ over the term. More details of the activities for this term will follow. Soccer will be the main focus. Fundamental Movement Skills will continue for the Junior School.
Games for Classes
Does anyone have any games that they could donate to classes for wet day breaks? Packs of cards are always useful as are any other games that you as a family may no longer have a use for.
First Aid Refresher Course
If you are interested in upgrading your First Aid Course we are having a course on 16th May from 3.30pm until 9.30pm. Cost $85.00 per person.
Next School Assembly
This week - Friday, 6th May at 2.15pm in the Library
PARKING OUTSIDE THE SCHOOL GROUNDS
Recently our buses have had a problem with parking in their designated parking area directly outside the front gates of the school as cars have been parking there illegally.
Please keep this area free between 8am and 4pm.
VOLUNTARY SCHOOL DONATIONS
We rely on your support to make this annual voluntary donation which is $130 per child per year or $250 for two or more children per family attending Hunua School. These funds assist in the day to day running of the school and it should be noted the amount has not increased for some years. In comparison to other schools within the Franklin area, Hunua School’s donation request is considered very reasonable. You are able to pay on a term by term basis and statements for the first term were sent out recently.
