  • All electrical equipment over 1 year old will be PAT tested annually.
  • All electrical equipment is to be inspected by the trainer on a regular basis for excessive wear and tear and replaced.
  • Extension leads must be covered to reduce the chance of a trip hazard and identified as a hazard to all students prior to the start of the course.

Manual Handling

  • Trainer will inform students about the nature of manual handling and request that any with medical injuries/illnesses bring it to the trainer’s attention.
  • Students are instructed on how to behave as a casualty and first aider prior to practical commencing.
  • Trainer will demonstrate all first aid procedures prior to student practical so students can assess if they are capable.
  • Students acting as casualties are provided with roll mats to lie down on during practical’s, to reduce possible injury.
  • Students acting as first aiders are provided with kneeling mats during practical’s to reduce possible injury.

  • Students are provided with Anti-Bacterial Hand Gel for them to use before and after group work if they require it.
  • Although there is no need to wear gloves during first aid training gloves are provided if the student asks for them.
  • Plasters are provided for any student who has a cut or open wound to reduce cross infection before group work.

Manual Handling
Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation Manikins / ALL /
  • Manikins are inspected on a regular basis by the trainer to ensure the serviceability and replaced if needed.
  • Manikin lungs are changed after each course to reduce the risk of cross infection.
  • Manikin wipes are provided during the course to wipe down the manikins before and after use students to reduce cross infection.
  • Manikin face and chest skins are removed and sterilized in Milton at least once a month to reduce cross infection.
