ESM PTA Minutes
February 15, 2017
The meeting was called to order by President Eddie Perez at 5:40pm. The meeting was attended by PTA Staff

Principle’s Update—Ms. Lindsey Thompson
§ This week the school climate culture survey will be going out. Students in grades 3rd-8th will also be taking the survey this year.
§ Literacy night will be held Thursday, March 2nd in the evening
§ Both a letter and an email went out to parents in regards to: Office of Child Advocate Report and the citing of Hartford Public Schools. All school staff members are mandated reporters; this includes the lunch staff and the morning and aftercare program OPMAD.
§ MDC has chosen our school to name the tunnel boring machine that will be used to create an underneath tunnel a naming contest will be held. More information to follow once the project becomes near
Spring Book Fair
§ Book fair will be the week of April 3rd—7th, this will be the buy one get one fair.
§ Volunteers will be needed, a sign-up sheet will be available
2016—2017 Budget Review
§ Treasure Robert Faircloth provided an update on the budget. We are doing very well.
§ A suggestion was made to increase the Teacher Appreciation amount from $500 to $1000, the motion was second and passed

Presidents Corner
§ CREC reached out to Mr. Perez to see if the school has any bus issues that they might be able to facilitate in. CREC would be willing to meet with the school sometime this school year or in the fall for the next school year.
Ø Principal Thompson informed us that a suggestion was to CREC if they would be able to co-op with other schools in order to fill the buses.
§ Mr. Perez will reach out to CREC personal and schedule a meet at next month’s PTA meeting.
§ Movie Night will be held Friday, March 10th and it will be Star Wars Theme (Free entry is the student wears Star Wars)
§ Reminder to teachers that grants are available as long as they are a PTA member and a request letter is submitted to the Board
§ Smart Talk was hosted last week (Q&A’s were taken by parents and answered). Information will be sent home with the students this Friday.
§ Mr. Perez met with our neighboring school in regards to the OPMAD/Teacher Basketball game, a date is still TBD. All proceeds will be split 50/50 between ESM and OPMAD
§ Talent show auditions will be held for 4th – 8th graders on the 22nd of February
§ 2nd cup of coffee will be tomorrow the 16th
§ Hot Wheels will be this Friday the 17th
