BIOCHEMISTRY RESEARCH

BIO 3181, BIO4491 and BIO4483

A.Carry out research projects in the laboratory of one of the Biochemistry faculty. Twosemesters of Biology 4491 are recommended. Students are encouraged to start the research in their junior year.

Upon completion of two semesters of Biology 4491, students may petition to the Biochemistry

Committee for Biology 4491 to be considered as a Biochemistryelective.

B.GRADUATION WITH HONORS

In order to graduate with honors, an additional semester of Biology 4483, besides the two semesters of Biology 4491, is required. Students must present the research done in Biology 4483

and Biology 4491, or a comprehensive presentation of a topic selected jointly by student and advisor.

Emphasis is placed on analysis of experimental techniques, quantitative interpretation of the data,

logical analysis of controls, and implication of the results.

C.Application to Biology 4483 and the honors track, as well as recommendation for graduationwith

honors must beapproved by the Biochemistry Committee.
