Committee

Members Present: Gail Reynolds (chairperson), David May, Alex Michelini, Ms. Carol Polack, John Roth, and Peter Wendrychowicz (vice-chairperson),

.

§  On motions from John Roth and Alex Michelini the minutes of the July 9th meeting was accepted.

§  Marketing Plan Update – Cablevision will place portions of our flyer on the Cablevision bills beginning with the October bill statements. Brian Campion said that placing portions of our flyers on the township Water and Tax bills was not possible. The tax bill has a unique and recognizable appearance and was not sure the insertion of the Cable Committee’s informational flyer on the Water statements would work. All past agendas and minutes were forwarded to Ms. Denise Storms for insertion on the township’s web site. Letters will be sent out to our users reintroducing ourselves and requesting that they offer any suggestions for improvement. Mr. Roth would have 50 more color copies of our flyer will be made for this purpose.

§  Videotaping- The Senior Picnic video is currently running on Channel 78. A clarification of who’s to be filmed, with the idea of remaining apolitical in our presentations, was discussed. Our next community event that will be videotaped will be the Senior Pool Party on August 21, at the Township Pool. The ideas of branching out our video presentations were also discussed. The mayor, council, and the heads of the various township department heads will be invited for participation in short videotaped interviews. Members of the Cable Committee members will contact Ramapo College sometime in September, to discuss the possible use of their video productions facilities. The committee members were also asked to prepare five (5) questions, for our September 9th meeting, to be asked in our first videotape interview with Mayor Martel.

§  Training - John Roth will make himself available during the week of August 23, to offer training sessions on video conversion.

§  Preparations for Mahwah Day (Sept. 27) – David May will still be supplying a tent for our booth. Magnets and beach balls (not to exceed $150) will be distributed throughout the day. John Roth will arrange to have a mike stand, an auxiliary microphone, and camera tripod. Ms. Polack will develop a sign and the committee will videotape residents who will be invited to ”Say Something About Mahwah”.

§  Verizon Update – Wiring into the building is completed, a “red light” test will also be completed, and then wiring from the “dumb box” to our system will be then completed in the near future.

§  Miscellaneous- Concern was expressed over Cablevision’s proposed intent to close their Mahwah office and move the Mahwah operations to Oakland. This is seen as a potential hardship to our residents.

§  Adjournment -On the motion by John Roth, and a second by Alex Michelini, the meeting was adjourned at 9:15 PM.

The next meeting of the committee is scheduled for Tuesday, September 9, 2008 at 7:30 P.M.

Respectfully submitted,

Peter. J. Wendrychowicz
