Don and Vicky Gabay to be Honored by

New York – Prominent attorney Donald D. Gabay and Vicky Gabay of Boca West were presented with Israel Bonds’ “Distinguished Leadership Medallion”. Israel Finance Minister Roni Bar-on made the presentation at the Israel Bonds Prime Minister’s Club dinner at the Boca West Country Club, Sunday evening, January 25, 2009.

Long active in leadership positions with the Israel Bonds organization, which raises investment funds for Israel’s infrastructure development, the Gabay’s are being recognized for strengthening Israel’s economy, which is crucial to the security of the only domestic U.S. ally in the Middle East.

Don is currently Of Counsel at the prestigious law firm of Stroock & Stroock & Lavan, which he joined as a Partner in 1984, establishing its Corporate and Regulatory insurance practice group, which has obtained national prominence.

He is the author of several important studies on aspects of the insurance industry. He is the recipient of many honors including, the 2007 Lifetime Achievement Award from the Council of Insurance Brokers of Greater New York and The City College of New York’s Most Distinguished Graduate Award.

A graduate of City College of New York and Brooklyn Law School, Don is a former First Deputy Superintendent of the New York State Insurance Department and prior thereto he served as Chief Counsel to the New York State Assembly Committee on Insurance.

Vicky is a graduate of Queens College in New York City and holds a Master’s Degree from New York University. She was an elementary school teacher in New York and thereafter a licensed New York Real Estate Broker active in commercial real estate.

Both Don and Vicky are committed to community improvement and philanthropic causes.

Don is the President of the Fairway Point Condo Association in Boca West, as well as a member of the Boca West Masters Association Finance Committee. He served for many years as a member of The Board of The National Conference of Christians and Jews. He was also the Chairman and President of the Insurance Federation of New York and is still a member of its Board of Directors.

Vicky, who now describes her primary activity as the “CEO of the Gabay family, consisting of six children (includes spouses) and six grandchildren is involved in the Boca West Cancer Research Association, Hadassah and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Sephardic home, in addition to Israel Bonds.
