2:00 – Area Minutes:
2:05 - Tony opened the meeting at 2:00. Kenny read the 12 Traditions. John read the 12 Concepts. Tony read the NYCASC Group Purpose
The group welcomes new members and visitors: John R., Shanika (new GSR for No Matter What Group), Melvin (new GSR for It Starts Here), Lakas (new GSR for NA Unity), Anthony (new GSR for Serenity Sunday)
2:05 - Quorum: 18 Voting Participants must be present, 10 of which must be GSRs. At this time, we have GSRs in attendance.
2:15 - Corrections to last month’s minutes:
· Rich P is not the GSR for Seize the Day, but is bringing the group conscience to Area in the meantime.
2:15 – Administrative Reports:
Roland – Chair Report:
· Issue #1: A Motion will be on the floor later to address an incident on the H&I Subcommittee. We will make a decision whether we need to send a letter to the Regional level to censure one of their members. The RDA came to H&I Subcommittee and character-assassinated several subcommittee service members. Censuring means this incident becomes a matter of public record and the person in question is asked to never repeat it again.
· Issue #2: Birthday Bash. Concensus is that the agreed upon ticket price wouldn’t let the Area break even. Ad hoc committee discussed having GSRs make a decision to see if we agree to go from $5 to $15 in advance, $20 at the door. We then have to re-print tickets to reflect the new price. Chair suggests that we act with prudence when spending Area funds, hence the change in price. Question from Chair, can we agree that the year this B-Day Bash is celebrating is the 63rd? Technically this happens in August, but several trusted servants would prefer to celebrate the 63rd year of NA Birthday Bash. Price of re-printing tickets is $100.
· Question to the body (Eddie): can we evaluate the cost/benefit of changing the B-Day Bash tickets to the suggested price?
Tony - Vice-Chair Report:
· Last month, Tony was working to keep PR running: Wilvena and Tony attended and set the stage for getting PR back on track. Bottom line, support is still needed.
Yvonne - RCM Report:
· Attended Greater NY Region CAR workshop yesterday to review the motions. For GSRs who did not get a CAR, there are motion forms to take back and discuss. Workshop next Saturday to review the motions and the survey.
· Yvonne will attend Region March 12th.
· Materials are attached to the minutes to inform the GSRs about the survey for circulation to the groups.
· Start voting on CAR motions at the next business meeting at each group so they can carry their group conscience to the next Area for transmission to Region. Need these ideally by the 3rd Sunday in March, but they will accept these votes to the last minute if necessary (17th of April at the latest).
· Yvonne will send the MARLCNA report to the Area Secretary for circulation.
Pete - Treasurer’s Report:
· Capital One ending balance for Feb is $7,203.70 / Prudent Reserve is $2,000 / B-Day bash fund is $1,000 / Outstanding checks total $1,831.08 / Ending balance is $2,372.62 / Total expenses is $748.30 / Working balance is $1,624.32 as of now
· Suggestion: let’s develop a system to identify when a check is out for 60 days.
Dave - Secretary: not running for Secretary, so please consider giving back if you have time and willingness.
