ABOUT US

What is TEAB?

TEAB - Tourism Educators Association of Bangladeshis the professional body of the Bangladesh tourism & hospitality industry and was formed in January 08, 2010. This is primarily responsible for monitor and development of tourism and hospitality education in Bangladesh.This is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the quality of education and research in the travel, tourism and hospitality industries by promoting the exchange of information, ideas, and outstanding service to our members.

Additional responsibility for policy-making lies with the BPB - Bangladesh Parjatan Board made up of people active and involved in tourism. TEAB will work closely with the Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Cultural Affairs, University Grants Commission – UGC, Bangladesh Technical Education Board – BTEB, Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation – BPC, Department of Archaeology and other organizations from the private sector family such as the TOAB, TDAB, ATAB, TGAB, etc.

The operational management of the organization will be performed by a President, General Secretary, fifteen Executive Committee Members, and member staff divided into various functional departments. They will work to conduct research, offer consultancy service, and arrange seminars, conferences, conventions, provide training to the professionals and other activities.

TEAB membership is open to bona-fide tourism and hospitality educators’, educational institutions and professional bodies with educational, research or professional interests in tourism, leisure and related fields representing all levels of educational institutions, ranging from professional institutes and to four-year graduate-degreegranting universities.

What are the Objectives of TEAB?

  • To promote the teaching of tourism, leisure and related subjects.
  • To encourage the exchange of staff and students between member institutions.
  • To promote links between professional bodies in tourism, leisure and associated subjects and to liaise on educational issues, curriculum development and professional recognition of courses.
  • To promote transnational research which helps to underpin the development of appropriate curricula for transnational education

What does TEAB do?

TEAB promotes links between member institutions through regular meetings and information exchange. The main activities of TEAB are:

  • Organizing conferences on issues in tourism & hospitality education and research.
  • Information services and publications, including the TEAB website, member portal and the yearbook TEAB Reflections;
  • Designing and coordinating curriculum development projects;
  • Research publications and reports.

The Aims and Objectives of TEAB

  • To create and foster a feeling of belongingness amongst the Tourism Educators of Bangladesh.
  • To cultivate and promote interpersonal relationship between the members in order to be able to move unitedly when an occasion arises and to protect/safeguard their interest collectively.
  • To develop a sense of belongingness to the profession of tourism education and to infuse a greater sense of responsibility among the members in the service of the tourism sector and the country.
  • To promote and safeguard the individual and collective legitimate interest of the members through constitutional means.
  • To promote better and cordial relation between the members and the public and private sector professionals in the tourism sector.
  • To endeavor, to render support and assistance to the members who have been disturbed materially by a reason of their service to the Association and to render reasonable and possible assistance to members in distress and families of deceased members in distress.
  • To promote, organize get-togethers lectures, studies, conferences, seminars, symposia, workshops, exhibitions, excursions, cultural functions, etc.
  • To promote, organize, take part in or assist in promoting or organizing fairs, festivals and to promote the objects of the society.
  • To maintain libraries, laboratories, museums, conference centers, cultural centers, hostels, sports and recreation centers etc.,
  • To print and publish bulletins, journals, books and periodicals.
  • To offer consultancy/expert service to the public or private tourism related organizations/institutions.
  • To popularize tourism education and profession through different events.
  • To create consciousness among the people in the public and private sector to invest and standardize the tourist services.

  • To organize professional tourism and hospitality training programs for the potential boys and girls for career building in the tourism sector.
  • To establish a fund with the object of helping teachers and family members, students who in the opinion of the society deserve help.
  • To establish maintain, control and manage branch of the society any where in Bangladesh as may seem expedient.
  • To accept any subscription, donation, fee, endowment from any member of the society or from any other person, institution. Public body, Company, Firm or Association.
  • To borrow any money required by the Society for the carrying out of any of its objects upon such security as may be determined.
  • To invest and deal with the money of the society not immediately required upon such security or securities and in such manner as may from time to time be determined.
  • To construct, alter and maintain any buildings required for the purposes of the society.
  • To admit any person to be honorary members of the Society on such terms and to confer on them such right and privileges as may seem expedient.
  • To do all such other lawful things as are incidental or conducive to the attaining of the above objects or any of them.
  • Purchase, build, hire, lease or otherwise acquire any land, premises and properties for the use of the Association and to manage, improve, develop or utilize any such land, premises and properties, and/or to sell, mortgage, let out or otherwise dispose of such land, premises and properties or any part thereof.
  • Accept any bequest, gift or donation made to the Association by a member or members of the Association and other donors or patrons.
  • Undertake and execute any trust and/or fund that the Association deems to be conducive to the attainment of any of its objectives.
  • Arrange for and/or secure finance and/or financial aid in any other form from all and any available legitimate source for use by the Association in the attainment of its objectives.

  • Organize seminars, symposiums, exhibitions, education fairs, workshops and conferences and carry out studies and research in accordance with the objectives of the Association.
  • Represent, at the Association’s discretion, any member or members, upon legitimate request, in negotiating, bargaining or otherwise in dealing with all and any kind of organizations, institutions, associations, companies, guilds or otherwise any public bodies, municipalities, boards, committees, commissions in all matters of common interest relating to hospitality and tourism education.
  • Print and disseminate materials, such as guide books, career books, text books and periodicals relevant to the hospitality and tourism education industry and other activities pertaining to the promotion of the objectives stated above subject to the prior approval of the relevant authorities.
