The primary responsibility of this position is to assist the lead administrator in daily operations of the school and related programs.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING, REQUIREMENTS AND PREREQUISITES

  • Graduate degree from accredited college or university.
  • Thorough knowledge of general and special education principles, practices and procedures
  • Thorough knowledge of the principles and methodology of effective teaching and administration
  • Thorough knowledge of school division rules, regulations and procedures
  • Thorough knowledge of the principles and methodology of effective teaching
  • Ability to establish and maintain standards of behavior
  • Ability to deliver articulate effective and professional oral presentations and written reports
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, students, parents, and administration
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities and personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with students, staff, administrators, and parents in a private special education day school environment
  • Ability to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Eligibility or possession of a Postgraduate Professional License with endorsements in Special Education and/or Administration/Supervision K-12 preferred
  • Ability to establish and maintain standards of behavior
  • Ability to deliver articulate effective and professional oral presentations and written reports
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, students, parents, and community members
  • Appropriate manner including poise, tact, good judgment and ability to work effectively with personnel, community representatives, parents and children

  • Basic computer skills and experience working with Microsoft Office preferred

Assistant Educational Coordinator/Principal

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Functions: May be required to perform any of the following duties:

  • Provides classroom, cafeteria, and other educational setting supports as needed Admin - Assists the Lead Administrator in the overall administration of the school which includes, but is not limited to interpreting and enforcing school policies and regulations.
  • Assists in supervision of all students, monitors halls, school grounds, and pupil movement to ensure a safe and orderly environment
  • Help conduct safety inspections and safety drill practice activities
  • Coordinates and supervises the daily operation of the school’s security functions, in-school suspension, and before/after school detention
  • Serves as the administrative designee in the absence of the Lead Administrator or as assigned by the Lead Administrator, Director or Assistant Director of Education
  • Assists in the preparation of student and staff handbooks, master schedule, and staff case management
  • Creates student schedules
  • Assists in maintaining discipline throughout the student body and implementing school wide disciplinary and behavior program
  • Insures the effective and timely reporting and communication related to student discipline
  • Assists in the creation and implementation of individualized behavior plans through collaboration with teachers, other school personnel and parents
  • Assists in the collection of student behavior data as assigned by the Lead School Administrator
  • Prepares for and attends meetings (e.g., FAPT, IEP, etc), court hearings, or other community agency meetings as necessary for the purposes of student support
  • Assists in coordinating open houses, parent-teacher meetings, transportation and other school related events
  • Assist in implementing and monitoring IEP progress forms, eligibilities, and yearly IEP reviews
  • Provide assistance during the student referral process including coordinating new student enrollment with the office staff and teachers
  • Serve as the LEA contact for student transportation
  • Monitors and communicates student attendance records to LEA
  • Assists the Lead Administrator with Rediker input, processing, and reports as assigned
  • Maintains a variety of files; prepares periodic and special reports as required
  • Staff - Assists the Principal in implementing the induction program for beginning teachers
  • All other duties as assigned
