Diary of an Elizabethan Teenager
Introduction
As part of your study of Shakespeare (1564 to 1616) it is important to understand the time and place in which he lived, this is known as his context. As Shakespeare completed most of his work under the reign of Queen Elizabeth I, we call the age in which he lived, the Elizabethan age.
The Task
Your task is to imagine you are a teenager living in the Elizabethan age and write a diary entry about one day in your life. You can present this task in digital form using web 2 tools such as: Goanimate, Capzles, Slidebomb voki or you may wish to just type you task.
Either way you should include pictures that illustrate aspects of your life.
In your diary entry try to include details about the following:
· Your name and age.

· Whether you are married, or not.
· If you are married, how you met your husband/wife.

The Research Process
Have you heard the saying It’s a jungle out there? Well doing research is like trying to make your way through the jungle – the jungle of information. The Research Process is like a roadmap that can help you make your ways through this jungle (if you follow it).
There are six stages to this process
Defining the TaskWhat is the problem I have to solve? / What are the main ideas or key concepts?
What do I already know about the topic?
What information do I need to find out?
Locating your resources
Where can I find the information I need? / Which sources of information are best for my needs?
Which sources do I already have?
What are the best search terms (Key Words) for me to use in my searches?
Selecting
How will I select the information I need? / How will I record the information I find?
How will I cite (credit) my sources? What bibliography format will I use?
Processing and Organisng
How can I organise this informationso that I can understand it better? / How will I organise the information I find?
What is the best way for me to take notes?
Presenting
How can I best share this information with other people? / Who will be my audience?
How will I present my information?
What is the purpose of my presentation?
Evaluating
What have I learned? / Did I answer my focus question(s)?
Did I manage my time well?
How will I apply this knowledge?
SPECIAL NOTE: It is important to realise that this process is not linear. Sometimes you will be doing one or two stages at the same time and you will need to go back to a previous stage if you do not have all of the information you need to complete your task.
