Dear Students and Parents:

The MCA Art Club, will be taking a field trip to CORNING GLASS, CORNINGNY

… on Monday, November 8, 2010.

We will be …

  1. going to the CorningGlassMuseum, with a guided tour,
  2. eating a bagged lunch at Corning
  3. attending 3 hands on glass workshops,
  4. including sand-blasting a image on a water glass,
  5. fusing a 2D glass window artwork, and
  6. creating a “blown” molten glass 3D Christmas Ornament.
  7. watching the “blown” glass Show by the Master Artist.
  8. Transportation will be on a coach bus leaving the school at 5:45 am sharp and returning to MCA around 7 pm.
  9. The fee for all the above is 47 dollars, only payable by check/money order to the MCA Art Club. A seat on the bus will only be booked/purchased on the students due date.
  10. Everyone will be expected to wear the 2010-11SY ART CLUB t-shirt.

We will be exploring the museums collections with Museum staff members, who will be leading discussions and exercises designed to encourage critical thinking in response to original works of art. The guided tour will be appropriate for our group's grade, level of ability, and subject of interest.

**If your student wishes to attend, then the permission forms must be filled out and returned on the appropriate date. When the tenure list of eligibility is open, students may then “pay” for their seat. As the checks/forms come in, then seats will be given on our trip. There are a total of 47 student seats.

Students should bring a snack and plastic bottled drink for breakfast. A school-bagged lunch is recommended for our noon meal. You may order one on the next page. Other wise pack a lunch that is totally disposable, all disposable items. Around 5-8 dollars will be needed for supper meal at a fast food restaurant. At different places along the way students may have the opportunity to purchase souvenirs, Corning Glass has wonderful gift shops with prices varying from 3 to ?? dollars.

Seniors and Juniorson Oct 20th and 21st may begin returning forms and trip fee.

Sophomores/Freshmenon Oct 22nd and 25th may begin returning forms and the trip fee. Eleventh and twelfth grade may also continue.

Eight grade and everyone else may continue to return forms and fees on Oct 26th toOct28th.
