City of Barrie – Licence2Ride
· Youth can complete a one-page application form (along with parent/guardian signature), provide one piece of identification and submit in person to one of the Recreation Centres from June 1 to June 30, 2017 for on-the-spot approval.
· Application forms are available on line or at the client services desks at the Rec Centres. Please review on line prior to June 1st roll out.
· Passes will be available on a first come, first served basis until June 30, 2017 while quantities last.
NOTE – for the Month of June, please continue issuing L2R passes until advised that we have met our quota. Please stop issuing L2R passes once centres close on June 30, 2017.
· The Licence2Ride pass will allow Barrie youth who are residents aged 12-15 years to ride for free on the Barrie Transit system as well as play for free in drop-in Recreation programs at the City’s three Community Centres (Allandale, East Bayfield and Holly CC) from July 1 to September 4, 2017.
Here’s a list of the places licence-holders could explore and activities they could enjoy with their Licence2Ride pass.
· Full access to Barrie Transit’s conventional routes (regardless of destination)
· Public swimming
· Fitness Drop-ins (13yrs + with a fitness orientation)
· Drop-in Gymnasium
· Public skating
· Drop-in youth centre (Holly CC)
· Outdoor Basketball courts and sports fields
· Lampman Lane splash pad
· Queens Park Skateboard Park
· Barrie Public Library
· Downtown Waterfront and Marina
· Johnsons, Centennial, Tyndale and Minets Point Beaches
Rider’s Ed Details – participants must be registered. There is NO FEE to attend
· Voluntary Transit/Recreation orientation sessions (Rider’s Ed) will be offered to program participants at the beginning of the summer to help educate them on using transit or for those who want to sign up for a Fitness orientation. There will be three Transit/Recreation orientations which will take place at each facility East Bayfield CC, Allandale Recreation Centre and Holly Community Center.

Each Rider’s Ed session will last approximately 1.5 hours total including Transit Bus tour & Recreation Component. The Rider’s Ed are meant to be FREE ~ FUN~ INFORMATIVE
Each Rider’s Ed will consist of:
Transit Treats
Ø Meet & greet (mingle with fellow L2R’s)
Ø Refreshments & snacks (drinks & treats only)
Ø Transit Staff & Recreation Staff Introductions
Ø 10 minutes
Transit Talk
Ø 20 minutes
Ø Apps & Tools for trip planning and bus tracking
Ø What Customer Service & support is available (we are here 24/7 to help!)
Ø Safety! How to ask for help if you miss your bus, board the wrong route or get off at the wrong stop
Transit Tour
Ø A private tour on a Barrie Transit bus supervised by Transit staff
Ø 30 minute tour , stops at Transit Terminal and returns to the Recreation Centre
Ø While on tour, we will inform riders on how to wait at a stop, boarding & departing , where to sit, on-bus etiquette, stop request, night stop program, bike rack, stops & shelters & how to transfer
