Everyone Active Co-ordinator

Location:Erewash

Salary:£18,000 to £24,000 pro rata 2.5 days per week

Contract:Full time

Length of contract:Fixed term until end November 2015 (likely to be extended to end November 2017)

Key Relationships:CST Operations Manager, Local Authority Hosts, Sport, Health and Physical Activity partners, community members, coaches and leaders.

Responsible for:Increasing physical activity participationwithin targeted communities in Erewash.

Working in partnership with other physical activitypartners, health promotion, primary care providers and other organisations in priority communities.

Developing sustainable local provision, based on demand,of regular physical activity; through activities, classes, clubs, groups and events to increase participation.

Building community volunteering and networks, and supporting people to become activators within their own communities.

Roles and Responsibilities

  1. Enthuse and motivate key community membersin priority wards/parishes across the borough to get involved in the promotion and development ofphysical activity.
  1. Work with new and existing community leaders and activators to plan and deliver community consultation.
  1. Identify local leaders, coaches and volunteers to deliver sustainable, informal sports activities, events and groups. Support the development of key ‘just like me volunteer activators’ in each community, through help, advice, bursaries and training.
  1. Support communities to co-ordinate new activities for themselves, with the development of sustainable groups and clubs as a primary aim.
  1. Work with local partners (Community Groups, Sports Clubs, Housing Associations, Community Associations, Primary Care settings etc.) to get people involved.
  1. Communicate regularly with key local agencies such as Primary Care health professionals, Housing Associationsetcas partners in the project.
  1. Develop and implement a local communications plan to raise awareness of sport, health and physical activity opportunities
  1. Monitor and evaluate the success of the project and provide quarterly reports to theOperations Manager.
  1. Ensure the welfare, health and safety of participants at activities, and support local volunteers with health, safety, risk assessments, child protection and other matters.
  1. Comply with relevant health and safety legislation, policies and procedures in the performance of the duties of the post.
  1. Maintain confidentiality and observe data protection and associated guidelines where appropriate.
  1. Take positive steps to identify and overcome barriers to participation amongst young people, older people, women, people from BME groups and disabled people, prioritising access and inclusion.
  1. Be prepared to regularly carry out work during evening and weekend periods.
  1. Act as an ambassador for the Community Sports Trust, host organisation and partners, through your conduct and community relationships.
  1. Be prepared to undertake ongoing training and personal development, to enhance skills and abilities for the post.
  1. Undertake any other duties associated with the post.

Terms of Employment

This post is subject to successful completion of an enhanced DBS check, medical clearance and references.

PLACE OF EMPLOYMENT : Sandiacre. This is the normal place of employment for this post. However, in order to deliver quality services, this may need to be varied from time to time and you may be required to work at any other place within the District, and to attend meetings at other venues around the County.

HOURS: 37pw. The role will require considerable evening and weekend work.
