Completed application forms should be forwarded to Room 308 Student Services, Civic Centre, Newcastle Upon Tyne NE1 8PU. Applications may also be passed to your school clerks who will forward it to this office.
CONDITIONS RELATING TO SCHOLARS’ TRAVEL PERMITSFree travel permits.
- Free travel permits may only be used for the journey to school in the morning and for the journey home in the afternoon, they can not be used for free travel at any other time.
- Permits will be issued for a one year period
- Permits are issued at the discretion of the Children’s Services Department and may be withdrawn if misused or abused, by either this department or Nexus.
- Permits are forwarded to directly to schools for distribution to pupils.
Pupils between 16 and 18 Years no longer qualify for Free Travel Permits and therefore need to apply for Teen Travel identity cards from Nexus.
Lost, Stolen or Damaged Permits.
- If you lose your permit report the loss and a replacement will be issued. There is a £5 charge to cover administrative costs for a replacement travel permit.
- It is the responsibility of the individual pupil to ensure that lost or damaged permits are replaced. Failure to do so could result in the pupil being charged the adult standard fare.
Change of Address
If you change your address your pass is invalid, therefore, please contact this office immediately.
If any pupil is found to be misusing their permit this could result in the permit being withdrawn.
