DECEMBER 9, 2005 BOND COMMISSION APPROVAL OF PROJECTS SUBMITTED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS

Agency: Community College System
Project: Funds approved to award a construction contract for additions to Tunxis Community College in Farmington (BI-CTC-398). This project is Phase 1 of the college’s master plan for facilities development. It consists of the demolition of the existing Fisher Hall and construction of 104,000 square feet of new space. The additions include a new library, general purpose classrooms and science and technology program space.

S.A. 04-2, Sec. 2(j)(3) $31,704,000.
S.A. 01-2, Sec. 2(i)(6) previous funding 750,000.
P.A. 99-242, Sec. 21(j)(4) previous funding 2,000,000.

Project: Funds approved to finance various infrastructure alterations and improvements at state-owned facilities (BI-2B-9000). Work includes replacing a steam line, designing an elevator upgrade and a new elevator installation at 24-38 Wolcott Hill Road, Wethersfield; and elevator upgrade at 200 Folly Brook Blvd, Wethersfield; and repairs to four elevators at 410, 450, and 460 Capitol Avenue, Hartford.

Agency: Military Department
Project: Funds approved to award a construction contract to renovate the Southington Readiness Center to accommodate the addition of a new Chemical Decontamination Company for the Connecticut Air National Guard (BI-Q-616). Consists of roofing, mechanical, electrical and plumbing upgrades, site improvements and improvements to administrative, storage, classroom, locker room and dining facility spaces.
