The British Red Cross helps people in crisis, whoever and wherever they are. We are part of a global voluntary network, responding to conflicts, natural disasters and individual emergencies.
We enable vulnerable people in the UK and abroad to prepare for and withstand emergencies in their own communities. And when the crisis is over, we help them to recover and move on with their lives.
In 2008 it was recognised that the current programme/project management systems in use in the International Division of the British Red Cross do not adequately satisfy management, reporting, learning and accountability requirements for beneficiary-focused and internal programmes/projects.
It was therefore agreed in mid-2008 that a Programme Cycle Methodology(PCM) and a Programme Management System was required for the International division.
The Programme & Information Management System (PIMS) was successfully rolled out to the International Division in October 2011, to staff based in the London Head Office and other offices around the world.Development has continued in 2012 to incorporate further suggestions from users as well as some corporate requirements. A full training programme was developed for the roll out of PIMS which has continued through 2012for new starters and new system developments. This will continue into 2013 and beyond.
The Project Cycle Methodology (PCM) was rolled out to users through 2011, partly through PIMS, and continues to be developed and refinedfollowing user feedback. The methodology scope has increased from solely projects and programmes into a broader International Management Methodology (IMM) which promotes a more consistent approach to managing all the work of the International Division
We are recruiting an International Programme Methodology Trainer to work withthe Performance & Accountability (P&A) Advisors and PIMS Project Managerin further developing anddelivering the training programme to the International Division and other users. The majority of training will focus on the IMM, with the successful applicant taking over an existing PIMS training programme from the current PIMS Trainer. Therefore the role requires a mix of continuity and innovation to ensure the development of a coherent training portfolio for the division during this period of change and improvement.
Scope and Purpose of the Post
To ensure that all members of the International Division and relevant UK personnel are fully trained and competent users of both theInternational Management Methodology (IMM) and Programme and Information Management System (PIMS). It is expected that the primary focus of this role will be on IMM training.
The trainer will be responsible for the development and delivery of training making use of the latest technologies including WebEx and e-learning as appropriate.
The post holder will work with a range of internal stakeholders, and be responsible for developing a coherent training programme in liaison with the BRC Learning and Development department.

PIMS - Programme & Information Management System (technological)

There is already an existing training programme for PIMS. Taking this into account, as well as the different user groups of PIMS (International staff, staff outside of the International division, as well as Superusers) the International Programme Methodology Trainer would be required to:
- Update or develop training courses for the different user groups as necessary
