PROFILE: I have been working professionally with my languages since 2006 and have been working as a freelance and in-house Translator and Interpreter - specialising in the medical field – since 2010. I have worked at the European Commission and have completed training at the United Nations, as well as freelancing with a number of medical repatriation companies and specialist agencies. I am highly qualified – with five degrees, including two Masters – and have been an Associate Member of the ITI since 2007. I take great pride in working accurately, consistently and diligently at all times.

As a trainee, I translated a wide-range of texts from insurance documents and customs classifications to correspondence from Member States. I also completedmedical and environmental terminology projects for the DG for Health & Consumers and edited and revised documents for the Europa website.I attended 50 hours ofCPD training.

As an in-house Linguist, I interpreted conversations between the UK and foreign medical teams – monitoring patients’ progress - for travel insurance companies and private clients, as well as translating medical reports and other documentation to tight deadlines and training new Linguists.

  • I have travelled inMalaysia, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, the U.S. (California, Texas, Florida and New York) and in Europe,as well ashavinglived in Belgium, France and Spain.
  • In 2002, I volunteered through the “Willing Workers on Organic Farms” scheme in Australia.
  • I have also worked as a Market Manager at Glastonbury Festival, the Production Office Manager at One Love Festival, aLifeguard, a Playworker (5-11 years),a Bar Supervisor at Womad,an Admin Assistant for the Bristol Ferry Boat Company,a waitress/barrista and a barmaid.
  • I play the piano and enjoy singing, reading, doing crosswords, listening to radio 4, baking cakes, making jam, cooking, going to the theatre and watching live music. I alsolove to cycle, swim and meditateand I have been attending pilates classes since April 2007.
