BFES CHORUS2017-2018

Dear Birmingham Falls Elementary 3rd, 4th & 5th grade Parents/Guardians:

As we welcome the new school year, your child has the opportunity to participate in the school CHORUS! This is a wonderful opportunity for the children to express themselves, learn a variety of music, to develop their singing voices as lifelong musical instruments, and to experience the satisfaction of performing well and working with a group.

The BFES Chorus will perform several times throughout the school year. The performance schedule is attached.

We will rehearse on MONDAY afternoons from the end of dismissal until 3:30 p.m. in music room 121. Our first rehearsal of the school year will be MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 11th.

Guidelines

  1. Attendance is expected at all rehearsals and performances.
  2. Chorus is a commitment for the entire school year
  3. Each chorus member is expected to participate, be attentive and use his/her best behavior for all weekly rehearsals and performances.
  4. A chorus uniform consisting of black bottoms, black shoes, and the BFES chorus t-shirt. (Order forms for the t-shirts will be distributedsometime in September).
  5. Each chorus member will need to bring a black-2 pocket folder for their music practice and lyric sheets. This will be the singers take home practice folder and will need to be brought to chorus each week.
  6. Transportation home Students need to be picked up PROMTLY at 3:35 p.m. outside the MAIN ENTRANCE in the car pool lane (car pool style) each and every Monday afternoon.Remember to fill out a change of dismissal/transportation form.

*If your child will miss chorus rehearsal unexpectedly please email Ms. Philpot at or call the school 470-254-2820.

Please fill out the attached permission form and information sheet. Please return to Ms. Philpot by Friday, September 8th. We must have this permission form and information sheet before your child will be allowed to stay after school for the first rehearsal on SEPTEMBER 11th.

Birmingham Falls Chorus 2017-2018 Performance Schedule

September

  • September 11th (Monday)-CHORUS BEGINS! 2:30-3:30 pm. In Music Room. Prompt pick-up at 3:35 pm in car pool lane in front of BFES We meet EVERY Monday school is in session.

October

  • TBD-Chick-fil-A Spirit Night-Lake Windward Location

December

  • December 2nd(Saturday)-Christmas in Crabapple-Broadwell Pavilion
  • December 21st(Thursday)-Holiday Caroling at BFES-During school hours at 8:00 a.m. for 30 minutes. We will sing a variety of holiday songs to the students at BFES. The chorus singers will walk through the hallways and stop at each grade level and perform a song or two. A permission form/slip for each chorus member for this event will be required and will distributed in December.

January

  • January-date TBD-Chorus Milton Cluster Concert @ Northwestern MS-6:30 p.m. Featuring Elementary, Middle and High School Chorus groups in our cluster! Amazing event

March

  • March date TBD -Chorus & 4th grade Recorder Book Fair Concert @ BFES in the café 6:30 p.m.
  • Fulton County Elementary Chorus Clinic (Saturday) exact date TBA

April

  • TBD-Chick-fil-A Spirit Night-Lake Windward Location

May

  • May 7th(Monday)-Chorus end of year PARTY!!!!!!! 2:30-3:30 in the Music Room. This will also be our last class of the school year
