July 2017

Dear Class of 2021 Parent:

As the days of summer fly by we are becoming more excited about meeting the new members of our St. Dominic family. To prepare our incoming freshmen for their high school experience, there will be a two-day orientation on August 30th and 31st. Please read the information below carefully as each day requires different attire and is held at a different location. This orientation is for incoming freshmen only. Please arrange transportation for your child on both days to and from the locations mentioned below.

Day 1 – August 30th

Time: 9 a.m.-12 p.m.

Location: St. Dominic High School – drop off/pick up in front of Marian Hall

What to wear: Collared shirt (button down, golf shirt, polo, etc.), shorts (must be knee length), sneakers.

What to expect: Information about St. Dominic, tour of campus, I.D. card photos, locker assignments, meet classmates and upperclassmen.

What to bring: Just your smile! Although you will be receiving your locker assignments, this will not be the day in which you bring your books. You will also be receiving a copy of your schedule.

Day 2 – August 31st

Time: 9 a.m.-12 p.m.

Location: St. Dominic, Charles B. Wang Fields, located on 25A.

Visit hs.stdoms.org for directions. In the event of inclement weather there will be a phone blast and the location will be changed to the high school gymnasium.

What to wear: We would like you to wear the shirt you received when you registered or any t-shirt is fine, your own comfortable shorts (must be knee length), and sneakers.

What to expect: Fun! Fun! Fun! Lots of games and pizza!

What to bring: Lots of energy and a bottle of water.

Additionally, there will be an informational freshman parent orientation meeting on August 30th at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium located in Canivan Hall. This will give you an opportunity to meet the administration, a few members of the faculty and parents. It is a wonderful forum to ask questions that you may have as not only a new parent to St. Dominic's, but as a freshman parent so please join us.

Sincerely,

Ms. Joanna Durante
