Animal farm

Research assignment topics

You will be writing a Research Paper due on ______.

Your paper needs to be between 5 and 10 pages in length, including a fully developed introduction and thesis statement.

The main body paragraphs must have a minimum of 5 -7 complete sentences and use at least 2 transitional words or phrases between sentences.

Your paper can focus on any one of the following themes identified in George Orwell’s Animal farm.

Your introduction will be based partly on your selected topic, but it will also declare what will be proven by your research. Each element of the task is addressed with specific information or examples, which will later be elaborated upon in the main body paragraphs.

The body paragraphs need to thoroughly address all elements of the task by: demonstrating an understanding of theme; incorporated relevant facts, examples, and details, and presenting everything in a well-organized manner.

The conclusion to your Research Paper should be able to communicate what it is that the paper was able to show or prove. Your paper must introduce the theme or problem by establishing a framework that is beyond simple restatement of the Task and concludes with a summation of the original theme or problem.

Finally, you may find your paper easier to write and control if you limit your focus to only two or three objects, ideas, or people. If you use more than two or three you will find it harder to write and more difficult for your audience to read.

Your final paper must come in typed (or neatly handwritten*) using Times New Roman Font, Size 12, MLA format (Works Cited Page & Proper Citations), and be double-spaced. Furthermore, your margins should not exceed 1 ¼”.

MLA Style Information :

  • Handwritten rules include neat, MLA formatted, double-spaced writing. Do not write on the back of the page, and only use blue or black ink (no pencil)

RESEARCH PAPER TOPICS

The animal residents of Manor Farm, spurred on by the dream of the pig, Old Major, decide they will change their “miserable, laborious, and short” lives. They overthrow Mr. Jones, their master, and take over the management of the farm. Rather than living under the heel of their human master, the animals of Manor Farm decide that they will take control of the products of their labor, working for the good of the farm and other animals, rather than for the good of humans. How is this story allegorical?

How did the event/person shape history in Russia? Many of the locations and characters

found in the novel were actually based on real people, locations, and events. Where do we

8.Orwell’s Overall Message

Orwell’s works often took aim at the Soviet Union, however his larger target was tyranny, and the injustice of the economic system in his own England as he was about Stalinist Russia.
