Silent Auction Basket

Every contestant is required to bring a basket for a silent auction during the weekend of North Carolina’s Outstanding Little Miss. Every year at Miss NC the baskets are spectacular and we are sure that the NCOLM contestant baskets will outshine their big sisters. Please remember the following things when collecting items for their basket:

  • Keep the ages of people you need to appeal to in mind when creating your basket. Use your presentation and marketing skills to produce a victorious basket.
  • Verify that all gift certificates and dated items are valid until at least July 31st, 2018.
  • All items must be displayed under plastic wrapping with no loose parts that could be lost or taken off. The Dollar Tree has clear basket bags.
  • Pack the basket as compactly as possible. Attach a complete item list, including the item’s value, one the outside of your basket. Place your name and photo inside the basket so people know who put it together. If you receive large items like furniture make sure they are marked with your name also.
  • Be as creative as possible with your basket. Think about what your area has to offer and talk to the local merchants and manufacturers about unique items.

Thank you in advance for your forethought for making your basket. Please bring the attached form to check-in with your basket.

The contestant whose basket sells for the most money receives, in cash, ½ of total amount that the basket brings. Ex: If you have the winning basket that sells for $500, you will receive $250.

Volunteering for Life

I never thought about becoming a volunteer until someone asked me. That’s all it took…someone asking. Since that first effort on my part, I have become an avid volunteer for many different agencies, organizations, and individuals in my community. Of the 65 million Americans who volunteer each year, 29 percent are teens. My platform focuses on increasing the number of teens and young people who volunteer. As Miss North Carolina’s Outstanding Teen, I will encourage other teens to volunteer their time and hands to those who are in need within their own communities. Through the strength of the crown and the publicity that accompanies it, my own enthusiasm and personal experience will be much more effective when asking people to give of themselves. Community service is a key part of the Miss North Carolina program; I will make it the focus of my year of service.
