Position Title Program/Public Education Manager

I.  Primary Purpose of Position

Program/Public Education Manager is responsible for developing and implementing all public information, including written and digital materials. Manager will coordinate all the organization’s external communications through all available media and provide technical assistance to Smart Start staff members. The Manager provides direction and staff support to any committee as directed. The Manager identifies and develops funding sources for Smart Start and performs other duties deemed necessary by the Executive Director. The Manager will also adhere to all policies and procedures of the organization.

II. Duties and Responsibilities

Public Information

ü  Develop and publish articles, videos, materials, publications, programs, and events on the website and/or blog to increase the visibility of the organization

ü  Work with other agencies to develop and promote activities that support children and families by using social media, as well as printed materials

ü  Prepare and send press releases

ü  Work with the Development Manager so that Champions for Children will be implemented on a large scale

ü  Serve as staff liaison to the Outreach Committee

ü  Maintain and update Google Ads Grant by creating and linking to landing pages and monitoring keywords

ü  Use Google Analytics, Piwik Analytics and other necessary monitoring software to determine outcome reports

ü  Keep accurate records

Technical Assistance

ü  Assist Smart Start staff with developing materials to support Smart Start funded programs and services

ü  Prepare and manage the Parent & Community Education and Development budgets under the supervision of the Fiscal Officer

ü  Develop policies and procedures for the Development Department

Fundraising

ü  Identify potential sources of funding

ü  Identify and write funding proposals and grants.

ü  Supply and create any materials that the Development Manager needs.

III. Education and Experience Required for Position

ü  Bachelor’s Degree in English, Journalism, Communications or related field

ü  Valid US driver’s license

ü  3 years professional experience in communications management

ü  3 years professional experience in media relations

ü  Computer skills required are Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Indesign, After Effects & Premiere)

ü  Must be familiar with using content management systems for websites and some HTML coding required

ü  Fundraising and Grant writing experience preferred.
