2016 Fordland’s Wild West Poster Contest

The Fordland Wild West Festival 2016 Poster Contest is open to all high school junior and senior students in Missouri and Northern Arkansas (public, home school and private school included). The 1st annual festival will be held on Sat. Aug 6th from 9 AM to 6 PM and the Rodeo at the Saddle Club starts at 3PM.

The winning entry will be used in the Festival’s marketing/advertising campaign and receive a $25. Grand prize. The three top winning entries will be displayed at the Home Pride Bank in Fordland and then at the festival. Arrangements will be made for artwork to be dropped off by students or mail to WWD/ Bonnie Palmer, P. O Box 321, Fordland, MO. 65652. Please invite your family and friends to see the art work displayed at the event. Student should be present at event to receive the award. All entries become the property of the Fordland Betterment Association. It must be 8 x 10 inches, full color, and done in an Old Western Theme and contain the following information:

d.  The Fordland’s Wild West Days is permitted to display my Artwork, together with my name and high school, at the Fordland Wild West Days and for the duration of the year at either the Home Pride Bank or the City Offices for Fordland. The Fordland Community Betterment Association and Fordland Wild West Days is permitted to publish my artwork and my name in print, voice or visual media. Winning Art may be displayed and all other art depending on space availability will be displayed at the festival. I must be present at the festival to receive my award. Once I submit my artwork, I will not have access to it until Monday Aug. 8, 2016. And for winners of the competition not until Fri. Jan 7, 2017.

e.  My Artwork, ( if not the winning work) must be collected by noon on Monday Aug. 8 , 2016 between 9 and 12 noon at Chateau Charmant will be disposed of at the committee’s discretion.

Fordland’s Wild West Days Art Scholarship

2016 Fordland’s Wild West Grade 12 Art Scholarship invitation

On behalf of the Fordland Community Betterment Association – Western Scholarship Committee, we invite students completing their final year of high school in Missouri or No. Arkansas to enter the Fordland’s Wild West Grade 12 Art Scholarship competition.

Entries for the scholarship will be juried by a panel experienced in the field of art. All decisions of the Committee are final.

Awards: First Prize: $500 Second Prize: $200 Third Prize: $100

1.  The competition is open to all students who are full time residents of Missouri, or Northern Arkansas and are completing their final year of high school during the 2015/2016 school year (public, home school and private). Students who are, or could be repeating their final year of high school are eligible to enter this completion but may only enter once. Scholarship winners must provide the Scholarship Committee with appropriate documentation by end of April 2016.

2.  The work of art must be entirely the student’s original work (not copied) and completed independently. Teamwork will not be considered. Only one work per student may be submitted. Student must be present at festival to receive award.

3.  The work of art must depict themes of western culture, lifestyle, heritage and characters, including but not limited to the following: ranching, landscape, floral, rodeo, agriculture, Indian architecture and portraits.

4.  Any medium (no photograph or digital art) may be used. All flatwork must be suitably mounted or framed. Three-dimensional work must be suitable for display.

5.  Entries must be received between Friday May 20 and Saturday May 28th… May 28, 2016 as the deadline. The winning student will be notified by letter. If hand delivered, call before delivery.

6.  The work of art must be accompanied by a completed official entry form, which can be obtained from your art teacher (Art Teachers: one entry form is attached. Please photocopy a sufficient supply).

9.  All winning entrants must display their work of art at the Fordland Wild West Days and for the duration of the year at the Home Pride Bank or at the City offices. All other entrants will be displayed depending upon space available. The Scholarship Committee will have the right to exhibit or publish the works of art and the names of the students, in print, voice or visual media. The work of art will be for display only and will not be offered for sale at or through the Fordland Wild West Days. All art is left at your own risk. The Fordland Betterment Association, or Fordland Wild West Days or its assignees are not responsible for loss or damage. Once art is submitted there is no access to the art until Mon., Aug 8, 2016.

10.  All works or art must be collected by the student or the student designate on Monday Aug 8, 2016 between 10 am and noon at Chateau Charmant. Any work of art that has not been collected on time will be disposed of at the discretion of the committee. Winner art will be kept until Jan 7, 2017 when it can be picked up.

Criteria for Payment of the Scholarship Award:

By August 8th 2016, scholarship winners must provide the Scholarship Committee with appropriate documentation as to which college or university the scholarship award will be paid. (All details will be given to scholarship winners)
