REPORTS TO Head of Studies

SALARY £30,000 - £34,000

Job Purpose

To oversee the research and learning resources provision in relation to the contextual curriculum and to manage the quality assurance work for Central’s Higher Education programmes: Foundation and BA (Hons) Degrees in Professional Dance and Performance and MA in Choreography

Key Accountabilities

1. To oversee the management and development of the library facilities, to ensure that learning resources are accessible to students and staff.

2. To assist students in the use of the library system, assistive technology and with locating and using research materials for written assignments in relation to the contextual curriculum.

3. To lead the development of research activity within the organisation and to be the CSB representative for CSB on the CDD Research Committee.

4. To provide and managethe quality assurance work in relation to the undergraduate and post graduatedegrees, working alongside the Head of Studies in relation to HE Quality Assurance procedures and associated work related to CSB’s involvement in working toward CDD Taught Degree Awarding Powers.

5. To provide learning and teaching for students to develop research and study skills and to take responsibility for allocated marking in relation to the contextual curriculum.

6. To oversee and ensure the administration for the Disabled Students Allowance arrangements and support for students with SpLDs.

7. To service meetings for the Academic Board, assisting the Head of Studies in the compilation of agendas, providing papers and reports as requested and lead the Student Focus Group.

8. To oversee the School’s A-Level provision as A-Level Exams Officer, reporting to the Head of Studies, and to ensure compliance with AQA, OCR & Edexcel, requirements in relation to the administration of the A-Level exams.

9. To represent the school on the CDD Learning Resources Sub-Committee and CDD SpLD/DSA Sub-Committee, and to present updates from the CDD Learning Resources Sub-Committee to the CDD Learning & Teaching Committee.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Background in dance and education.
  • Academic qualification ideally equating to a first degree, preferably in dance.
  • Teaching experience.
  • Experience of systems and processes in higher education and associated quality assurance.
  • The ability to communicate effectively at all levels, both verbally and in writing.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to problem-solve.
  • Strong organisational, administrative and IT skills.
  • Experience of working successfully as part of a team and independently, using initiative to manage workload and meet agreed deadlines.

Desirable

  • An understanding of the arts and of performance practice.
  • Successful experience of managing projects.

Terms and Conditions

  • The post will be offered on a permanent full-time basiswith an initial 6-month probationary period
  • This post is based at the School’s premises, 10 Herbal Hill, London EC1R 5EG;
  • The hours of work are typically 7.5 hours per day (excluding breaks), 5 days per week
  • In line with School Policy, this post requires a Disclosure and Barring Service Enhanced Disclosure
  • Holiday Entitlement = All English Bank & Public Holidays, plus 20 days per annum pro rata (rising to 25 days after 2 years of service)
  • Access to a workplace pension scheme with BC & E (People’s Pension) and enrolment with employer contributions at currently 1% of salary(subject to eligibility criteria)
