News Release Incident: Burglary

On April 22nd 2015 Detective Kyle Warren began investigating a day time residential burglary that had occurred two days prior and resulted in the theft of seven (7) firearms from the residence. The firearms were described as two (2) BB Guns, one (1) 9mm handgun, two (2) SKS Rifles and one (1) 12 gauge shotgun. The burglary had occurred at a residence on Folsom Avenue in the Scullville section of the township.

Along with the assistance of Detectives Robert Harte and Shawn Owen, the investigation lead to the arrest of Shelby Hutchins, 23 years of age from Egg Harbor Township, along with her male companion, Elmer Burgos, 25 years of age from Northfield. A third individual, Louis Castilloveitia, 24 years of age of Egg Harbor Township, was implicated in the burglary and has an outstanding warrant for his arrest in reference to this case.

As a result of the investigation, Elmer Burgos was arrested on April 23rd and charged with Conspiracy, Possession of Crack Cocaine, Possession of Heroin, Possession with the intent to Distribute, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of a Weapon by Convicted Felon, Selling Firearms without License, Possession of a Weapon and (2) counts of Receiving Stolen Property in two other jurisdictions. His charges were placed on a warrant and he was lodged in the Atlantic County Justice Facility on $100,000 cash bail.

Shelby Hutchins was located and arrested in Passaic New Jersey on April 24th and charged with Burglary, 2 counts of Theft and Selling Firearms without a License. Bail on these charges was set by Municipal Court Judge H.R. Switzer at $10,000 full and she was lodged in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.

Louis Castilloveitia was charged with Conspiracy to Commit Burglary and his warrant is still outstanding. Anyone with information on the location of Castilloveitia please contact the Egg Harbor Township Police Department Criminal Investigations Bureau at (609)926-4051.

As of this time the only guns that have not yet been located are the 9mm CZ handgun and the BB handgun, but the other five (5) have been recovered. During the investigation of this case Detectives also recovered just under 100 packets of Heroin, a quarter ounce of Crack Cocaine and Marijuana.
