Summary of Duties

Reporting directly to the Manager, IT Support, the Temporary IT Service Desk Associate will respond to, track, and resolve technical and procedural issues for both hardware and software for Metra’s microcomputer end-users beginning at 6:30 a.m. Monday through Friday. Maintain an accurate and detailed record of all work done using the Metra ticketing system including documentation regarding issues, user accounts, inventory, Point of Sale (POS) systems, and purchase orders. Configure, install, and maintain microcomputer hardware and software at all Metra facilities. Respond to support calls which involve, but are not limited to, unlocking accounts, resetting passwords, performing first-level analysis of issues to be assigned to other staff, and troubleshooting issues with Point of Sale (POS) systems. Coordinate appropriate outside service personnel to service other microcomputer needs and problems as required. Performs other related duties as needed to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree in a computer-related discipline OR, in lieu of specified degree, any combination of education and experience may be substituted for the required degree that equals four (4) years in information technology.
  2. In addition to #1, must have demonstrated technical support experience which includes: installing microcomputer equipment and software in a Microsoft environment; maintenance; troubleshooting; installing, and maintaining LAN equipment and software; and assisting end users in both standalone and network environments.
  3. Experience supporting Point of Sale equipment is a plus.
  4. Computer Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) A+ Certification is preferred.
  5. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  6. Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with all levels of management and external customers.
  7. This position has a fixed starting time of 6:30 a.m. Monday through Friday.

Industrial Hygiene Engineer I

Reporting directly to the Department Head Industrial Engineering, the Industrial Hygiene Engineer I will assist in the development and implementation department/project goals and objectives to include work plans and strategic plans. Assist with procedures for chemical, physical, and biological hazards and their control. Identify hazards and determine appropriate controls. Assist with exposure assessments to identify and evaluate hazards and select effective control measures to protect workers. Assist with conducting environmental compliance inspections and environmental remediation oversight. Assist with training of Metra employees on safety, environmentalcompliance, and industrial hygiene programs. Assist with monitoring strategies and perform field measurements/surveys using a variety of monitoring and sampling equipment. Assist with technical reports to document the evaluation of workplace hazards and mitigation strategies, including engineering and administrative controls, or personal protective equipment, used to reduce or eliminate hazards. Perform other related duties as assigned to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications

  1. Bachelor's degree in Industrial Hygiene, Safety Management, Environmental Science, Environmental Health and Safety or in lieu of a specified degree, must have any combination of education and experience that equals four (4) years of industrial hygiene/environmental compliance. Advanced degree is preferred.
  2. In addition to #1, must have two (2) years of experience in industrial hygiene or training in performing workplace hazardous assessments, industrial hygiene compliance, environmental compliance, and environmental permitting.
  3. Experience conducting asbestos and lead sampling.
  4. OSHA 40 HR HAZWOPER training and all relevant 8 HR HAZWOPER refresher certifications within 36 months of hire.
  5. Experience writing and reviewing Phase I and Phase II environmental reports and making corrective action recommendations preferred.
  6. Knowledge of all relevant laws, acts, regulations and industry safety standards and systems emanating from applicable Federal, State, County and City agencies and their functions and authority.
  7. Knowledge of environmental, worker safety and industrial hygiene regulations.
  8. Ability to interpret, summarize and prepare clear and concise written reports of test and sampling data.
  9. Ability to maintain effective working relationships while working independently and/or as part of a team with a high degree of initiative required.
  10. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including report writing and audio/visual presentations.
  11. Proficient with MS Office Suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
  12. Certifications preferred: CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist) or CHMM (Certified Hazardous Materials Manager).

Reporting directly to the DC Supervisor, the Electrical DC Apprentice is responsible for assisting electricians with construction, testing, inspection, installation, maintenance, removal, and operation of the 1500-volt DC overhead catenary system and underground electrical feeders in manholes.
