I KNOW MY SAVIOR LIVES

Primary Sacrament Meeting Program 2010

Primary Counselor:This year the children in our Primary have had the opportunity to learn, to feel and understand the great love that our Savior Jesus Christ, has for each and everyone of them. They have learned about the central role of Jesus Christ in our Heavenly Father’s plan, and have learned how they can increase their faith in him. Our faith can grow stronger as we keep the commandments, serve, share the gospel, follow the example of the Savior, and prepare for his Second Coming. Each month we have been focusing on different aspects of the Savior’slife in our sharing and singing time. The primary would like to share with you some of the important teachings we have learned this year.

January’s Theme:We Believe in God the Eternal Father and in His Son, Jesus Christ

Narrator 1:In January, we began the year with one of the most important principles of the gospel. “We believe in God, the Eternal Father and in His Son, Jesus Christ and in the Holy Ghost.”

Narrator 2:Before we came to earth, our Heavenly Father told us about the Plan of Salvation. He told us we would come to earth and receive a body. We knew that we would be tested to choose the right while here on this earth, away from our heavenly home. We have faith that Heavenly Father knows us, and that He hears and answers our prayers.

SONG: “I Know That My Savior Loves Me”

A long time ago in a beautiful place,
Children were gathered ’round Jesus.
He blessed and taught as they felt of His love.
Each saw the tears on His face.
The love that He felt for His little ones
I know He feels for me.
I did not touch Him or sit on His knee,
Yet, Jesus is real to me.

Chorus
I know He lives!
I will follow faithfully.
My heart I give to Him.
I know that my Savior loves me.

Now I am here in a beautiful place,
Learning the teachings of Jesus.
Parents and teachers will help guide the way,
Lighting my path every day.
Wrapped in the arms of my Savior’s love,
I feel His gentle touch.
Living each day, I will follow His way,
Home to my Father above.

______Heavenly Father sent us to live with our family.

______We are all part of one big family, Heavenly Father’s family.

February’s Theme:Jesus Christ Is My Savior and Redeemer

Narrator 1: In February, we learned that Jesus Christ volunteered to be our Savior and Redeemer. He gave his perfect life so we could live again. Because Jesus Christ was resurrected, we all will be resurrected, too.

Narrator 2: In John, Chapter 3, verse 16 we read… “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

SONG: “He Sent His Son”

How could the Father tell the world of love and tenderness?
He sent his Son, a newborn babe, with peace and holiness.
How could the Father show the world the pathway we should go?
He sent his Son to walk with men on earth that we may know.
How could the Father tell the world of sacrifice, of death?
He sent his Son to die for us and rise with living breath.
What does the Father ask of us? What do the scriptures say?
Have faith, have hope, live like his Son,
Help others on their way. What does he ask? Live like his Son.

______Jesus Christ is our Savior and Redeemer. He is our Savior because he saves us from our sins. He is our Redeemer because he paid the price for us. He willingly gave his perfect life as a ransom for our sins.

______His atonement makes it possible for us to return and live with our Heavenly Father again.

______The Third Article of Faith states: “We believe that through the atonement of Christ, all mankind may be saved by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel.”

______I am thankful for the Savior because he made it possible for me to repent and be forgiven.

______I am thankful that Heavenly Father loved us enough to send his Son, Jesus Christ, to earth.

______I will try to live like Jesus Christ every day.

April’s Theme: Jesus Christ Restored the Fullness of the Gospel Through Joseph Smith

Narrator 1: In April, we learned that when Christ was on the earth, he established his church. After Jesus died, people

fell away from his teachings, and his Church was taken from the earth. In the latter-days, Jesus Christ

restored the fullness of the Gospel through the prophet Joseph Smith.

Narrator 2: The 6th Article of Faith tells us… “We believe in the same organization that existed in the Primitive Church, namely, apostles, prophets, pastors, teachers, evangelists and so forth.” We are very glad to belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

SONG: “The Church of Jesus Christ”

I belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

I know who I am, I know God’s plan, I’ll follow him in faith.

I believe in the Savior Jesus Christ, I’ll follow his way.

I’ll do what is right, I’ll follow his light.

His truth I will proclaim.

______Joseph Smith was the first prophet of these latter-days.

______Joseph Smith wondered which church was right. He decided to pray and ask God. He had faith that his prayer would be answered. “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God.”

______As Joseph Smith prayed in a grove of trees, Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ appeared to him. Joseph was told, “This is my beloved son, Hear him.”

______As a prophet, Joseph Smith helped to bring the fullness of the Gospel to the world today.

______Joseph Smith was able to translate the Book of Mormon through the power of God. He could not read the writings on the gold plates without the help of the Lord.

______To restore the gospel means to put it back together. Joseph Smith helped put the church back together by translating the scriptures, receiving revelation, restoring the priesthood and ordinances, and becoming our first latter-day prophet.

______I am grateful for the words of the Book of Mormon because it is another testament of Jesus Christ.

______The Book of Mormon gives me examples and teaches me the right things I must do to return to my Heavenly Father.

May’s Theme:Principles and Ordinances of the Gospel Lead Me to Jesus Christ

Narrator 1: In May, we focused on the 4th Article of Faith that teaches us that the principles and ordinances of the Gospel are steps we can follow that lead us to Jesus Christ.

Narrator 2:“We believe that the first principles and ordinances of the Gospel are: first, faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; second, repentance; third, baptism by immersion for the remission of sins; fourth, laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost.”

SONG: “The Fourth Article of Faith”

We believe that the first principle and ordinances of the gospel.

Are first, faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Second, repentance.

Third, baptism by immersion, for the remission of sins,

Fourth, laying on the hands, for the gift of the Holy Ghost.

______Principles and ordinances of the Gospel lead me to Jesus Christ. My faith in Jesus Christ is strengthened when I obey. Because of Jesus Christ, when we do something wrong we can repent. We can be forgiven for our sins.

______When I was baptized I made a covenant with God. I became the newest member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I promised to take upon the name of Jesus Christ and always remember him.

Narrator 2:In Moroni, chapter 10: verse 5 we read: “By the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things.”

SONG: “The Holy Ghost”

When Christ was on the earth, He promised he would send

The Holy Ghost to comfort us, Our true eternal friend.

The Holy Spirit whispers with a still small voice.

He testifies of God and Christ, and makes our hearts rejoice.

And when we are confirmed, by sacred priesthood power.

The Holy Ghost is giv’n to us, to guide us every hour.

Oh may I always listen, to that still small voice.

And with his light, I’ll do what’s right, Each time I make a choice.

______The Holy Ghost is the third member of the Godhead.

______We receive a warm feeling when the Holy Ghost tells us what is right.

July’s Theme:I Can Follow Jesus Christ's Example

Narrator 1: In July, we learned how Jesus lived a sinless life and showed us a perfect example to follow. If we ever

wonder what is the right thing to do, we can ask ourselves this question: What would I do if the Savior

stood beside me?

Narrator 2: We can learn to be like Jesus by studying his life and mission. When Jesus visited the Nephites,

he said: “Therefore, whatmanner of men ought ye to be? Verily I say unto you, evenasIam.”

(3 Nephi 27:27)

SONG: “If the Savior Stood Beside Me”

If the Savior stood beside me, would I do the things I do?
Would I think of His commandments and try harder to be true?
Would I follow His example? Would I live more righteously,
If I could see the Savior standing nigh, watching over me?

If the Savior stood beside me, would I say the things I say?
Would my words be true and kind if He were never far away?
Would I try to share the gospel? Would I speak more reverently,
If I could see the Savior standing nigh, watching over me?

He is always near me, though I do not see Him there,
And because He loves me dearly, I am in His watchful care.
So I'll be the kind of person that I know I'd like to be,
If I could see the Savior standing nigh, watching over me.

August’s Theme:Jesus Christ Is the Son of God, and He is a God of Miracles

Narrator 2: In August, we were taught about when Jesus was on the earth, how he performed many mighty miracles. If we have faith in Jesus Christ, we will see miracles in our lives in both large and small ways.

Narrator 1:The Lord said in 2 Nephi, chapter 27, verse 23:“For behold, I am God; and I am a God of miracles; ...and I work not among the children of men save it be according to their faith.”

______Throughout this life on earth, Jesus Christ always did His Father’s will. Many people were blessed by his teachings and the miracles he performed.

______Jesus Christ’s example teaches me how to live. We too can go about doing good. We can show love and compassion by serving others.

______Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and He is a God of Miracles. A miracle is an extraordinary event caused by the power of God. As we study the scriptures we learn of the miracles that Jesus performed.

______Jesus raised the dead, healed the sick, restored sight to the blind, and fed 5,000 people. These miracles were done through the power of God. Miracles still happen today all around us, they come to those who have faith. They are not always dramatic events, but come as small and simple things.

______Jesus created the earth. The miracles that Jesus performed show that he has power over the earth. He used his power to do his Father’s will and to help people in need.

Primary President:In Doctrine & Covenant, Chapter 76: Verse 22 we read, “And now, after the many testimonies which have been given of him, this is the testimony, last of all which we give of him: That he lives!”
