Today we learnt about one of the most famous companions of the prophet (S). He is someone whom God has honoured so much that he is well-known throughout the majority of the Muslim world.

Lessons from today’s story

·  All human beings are equal. A black man is not better than a white man nor is a white man better than a black man. An Arab is not better than a non-Arab, a rich man is not better than a poor man and a man is not better than a woman. Nobody can be better than another person except through their good actions.

·  It’s the small but regular good deeds that we do that will matter and will take us to Jannah – like always making wudhu whenever it breaks.

·  If you are ever horrible to anyone you will never get away with it. You should ask God to forgive you and the person to forgive you and never do it again.

·  When someone we love dies then although it is very sad, we should remember that if they have been a good person then InshaA’ after they have died their grave opens up and will be like a garden of heaven. They have gone to a much better place.

Activity Time

·  Children learnt about the importance of equality in Islam. The fact that people all over the world come in different colours, shapes and sizes and live, eat and dress differently is something for us to appreciate and enjoy. Some of them even dressed up!

·  Children learnt about the importance of wudhu, what a ‘Mudd’ is and that we should not waste water. They practised making wudhu with minimal water.

·  Imagine being Bilal (R) in Damascus, imagine writing a letter to the Khalifah or imagine being in a faraway land and writing a letter to our prophet (S) in Madinah – wishing you could go to visit him. What would you write? Our children today scribbled their thoughts in a letter to the prophet (S).

Circle Time

In circle time children recited the adhaan – this is the legacy of Bilal (R). He had no children but the adhaan is what he left behind for us. In honour of this great companion we will be having an adhaan competition at our next story hour InshaA’ and we hope your little sparkle will participate. Children participating must be in one of three age groups: Reception & Nursery, Infants (Year 1&2) or Juniors. Children will be judged on Tajweed, Clarity and Melody.

Cleanliness Is Half Of Faith

MashaA’ whilst all the children behave excellently we have found lots of wrappers and other litter on the floor in the classrooms, foyers and outside the building after the last few story hours. We understand children may innocently do this without much thought but this is against Islamic etiquette and disrespectful to the premises. We hope you will work with us on this and remind children not to litter and use the bins that are provided or pocket the litter and throw it in the dustbin when they get home.
