Erasmus+ Learning Agreement

(for research students studying abroad)

Please complete this document in consultation with your Supervisor and School Study Abroad Co-ordinator, and reference to the Policy on Credits and Grade Conversion for Study Abroad,

Step by Step

1.You should agree a provisional Learning Agreement with your Supervisor before you go abroad

2.Once abroad, liaise with your Supervisor and/or School Study Abroad Co-ordinator via email to seek final approval of your academic programme abroad

3.Once approved, print and sign your Learning Agreement

4.Ask your host institution to sign your Learning Agreement

5.You may either:

  1. Scan and email your Learning Agreement to

OR

  1. Send a hard copy to: Collaborations & Study Abroad, University of St Andrews, St Katharine’s West, 16 The Scores, St Andrews, Fife KY16 9AX

6.On receipt, CSA will send to your Study Abroad Co-ordinator for counter-signature.

Deadline

The approved and signed Learning Agreement must be returned to the CSA team within four weeks of arrival at your host institution.

*Full year students can complete a Learning Agreement for Semester One at the beginning of their placement, and follow up with a Learning Agreement for Semester Two within four weeks of the host university’s second semester start date.

*Please note the University of St Andrew’s PGR (PhD) programme is research based and do not carry a credit requirement. As the Erasmus+ programme extends to post graduate students, we grant study placements to PGR (PhD) students who are studying at an Erasmus+ exchange partner within the student’s specific area of study agreed upon by supervisors from both institutions. In order to record this the required Erasmus+ learning agreement, specifically the module (course) selection table, has been modified.

  1. COMMITMENT OF THE THREE PARTIES

By signing this document, the student, the University of St Andrews (home institution) and the host institution confirm that they approve the proposed Learning Agreement and that they will comply with all the arrangements agreed by all parties. The University of St Andrews and host institutions undertake to apply all the principles of the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education relating to mobility for students (or the principles agreed in the inter-institutional agreement for institutions located in partner countries).

The host institution confirms that the educational modules listed are in line with its course catalogue.

The University of St Andrews commits to recognise all the credit gained at the host institution for the successfully completed educational modules and to count them towards the student’s degree. Any exceptions to this rule are documented in an annex of this Learning Agreement and agreed by all parties.

The student and host institution will communicate to the University of St Andrews any problems or changes regarding the proposed mobility programme, responsible persons and/or study period.
