RULES

Outline

The Chesterfield World Rules Singles League will be played on a weekly basis from Lennons Pool & Snooker.

The league will be played on a Wednesday night with the first 5 matches starting at 7.45pm. Players in the first matches of the night should be available to start at this time, however these can be re-arranged if prior notice is given and agreed with your opponent later in that evening if you are going to be late.

All players should be in Lennons by 9pm at the latest in order to be available to play at a reasonable time (there can be some flexibility over this, so if for any reason you are unable to attend by this time please inform a member of the committee or your player well in advance).

Any complaints or decisions regarding rules should be addressed to the League Committee, whose decision will be final in all matters.

The League Committee will consist of:-

  • Steve Finnegan
  • Sean Lennon
  • Jason Rimington

Five tables will be used each week with matches being played in the order on the fixture list. As each match completes, the next match on the list will start on that table (matches can be played in a different order if a player cannot attend at a certain time but wherever possible this should be arranged in advance so that your opponent is aware).

Time keeping for the 1 minute rule will not be enforced initially but players should play in the spirit of the game by playing shots in a timely manner. If a player is seen to be taking excessive time over shots his opponent can request a time keeper.

This will be enforced by a member of the committee.

Entry Fees

Each player will pay a £20 bond at the start of the season and this bond will form part of the end of season payout of which the minimum payout will be no less than £20.00

An entry fee of £3 per week will be paid by each player for each week of the league fixtures.

League Rules

All matches will be played to full EPA World 8 Ball Rules, excluding time keeping.

Black Ball shoot out to Blackball Rules and Scotch Doubles.

BlackBall shoot out. Lag for the first shot. Best of 5 blacks each and if its still a draw then sudden death until we have a winner.

Non completion of fixtures

If any player does not complete all of their fixtures in the league they will forfeit their £20 bond, league fees paid to date and any prize money that may have been due to them.

If for any reason a player does not complete the season then all results will be expunged from the league.

Cancelled Matches

If a player falls 3 matches or more behind then a point will be deducted each week there after until these matches are played.

If a Player falls 5 matches behind then they will be Removed from the league and any monies paid will not be refunded. No Exceptions

Re-arranging matches

It is inevitable that throughout the length of the season some matches will need to be re-arranged due to player’s availability. A flexible approach will be taken to this but games need to be re-arranged using the guidelines below:-

  • If you are aware that you will be missing a week at some stage in the future, try to arrange to play it in advance
  • Games should not be played more than 4 weeks in advance
  • Whenever possible re-arranged games should be played on an existing league night, either before or after the scheduled matches and not during the arranged fixtures as these will always take priority.
  • At the end of the season there will be a cut off date and any outstanding games will not be recorded as results. Any outstanding games must not be carried over so its your responsibility to ensure any outstanding games are played before the cut off date, this is to give a fair end and results to the end of the season. No Exceptions.

League / Match Format

The league will consist of 24 players with each player playing each other once.

Matches will consist of 8 Frames.

The winner will receive 3 points if its a draw then each player will receive 1 point but there will be a blackball shoot out and this will be worth another extra point to the person who wins it.

Blackball shoot out will be 5 shots each with the black ball on the spot and cue ball behind the line you have one shot at the black to pot it in any pocket.

If after 5 shots each it is still a draw then its sudden death.

Sudden Death Blackball shoot out will be cue ball on white spot and black ball on Black Spot then one shot at the pot until a miss

The winner of the shoot out will receive a bonus point.

If at the end of the season two or more players are on the same points the player with the most number of wins will gain the higher position.

If players are still exactly equal then it will be decided by the result when the two players played and the winner will take the higher position.

There is a chance that players may still be level if 3 or more players are involved in this case the prize money will be added together and split equally. Under these circumstances if this position effects entry into the top 8 then a one off playoff to decide the positions will take place.
