A HOUSE RESOLUTION
TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR MR. AND MRS. RAJAN SAHIJRAM, OWNERS OF OPTIONS MENSWEAR IN CHARLESTON, UPON THE OCCASION OF THEIR RETIREMENT AFTER THIRTYSEVEN YEARS OF OUTSTANDING SERVICE TO THE CHARLESTON COMMUNITY, AND TO WISH THEM CONTINUED SUCCESS AND HAPPINESS IN ALL THEIR FUTURE ENDEAVORS.
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives have learned that Rajan Sahijram and his wife, Manu R. Sahijram, will begin a welldeserved retirement after thirtyseven years as premier and highlyregarded providers of men’s clothing in Charleston; and
Whereas, Rajan Sahijram was born in Calcutta, India, and Manu Sahijram was born in Hyderabad, India. They moved to Charleston in December 1979 and opened a store just three months later; and
Whereas, in February 1980, they began operating a men’s clothing store on King Street in downtown Charleston, Hi Fashions of New York, and they later moved the menswear store to a location at Westwood Plaza under the name Options; and
Whereas, Mr. and Mrs. Sahijram have enjoyed a special bond with all of their customers in Charleston, and those customers are deeply sorry to see them close their store; and
Whereas, together they reared three fine children who, along with their families, have enjoyed personal and professional success as well. Their children have blessed them with the affection of four adoring grandchildren; and
Whereas, although Mr. and Mrs. Sahijram will miss their many and valued customers, they are grateful that South Carolina has enabled them to make their dreams come true, and they feel very blessed and proud to call Charleston their home, which they consider the best place in the world; and
Whereas, they plan to spend many happy hours of retirement enjoying their family while they develop an online business, and Mrs. Sahijram plans to continue making alterations for customers; and
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are grateful for the years of unparalleled dedication that Rajan and Manu Sahijram have devoted to serving customers in the Charleston community and wish them many years of enjoyment in their wellearned retirement. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognize and honor Mr. and Mrs. Rajan Sahijram, owners of Options menswear in Charleston, upon the occasion of their retirement after thirtyseven years of outstanding service to the Charleston community, and wish them continued success and happiness in all their future endeavors.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Mr. and Mrs. Rajan Sahijram.
