22nd January 2018

Dear Parents,

St Christopher’s Music Festival – Thursday 15th March

On Thursday 15th March the pupils in Year 2 will be participating in the 2018 Music Festival hosted by St Christopher’s School in Epsom. This year, as part of their 80th celebrations, they are particularly delighted to welcome the famous British Composer, Bob Chilcott, who will be conducting the children in his own piece ‘Can you hear me?’.

The children will be travelling by coach to and from school, returning in time for normal pickup and after school activities.

In order to arrive in Epsom at 9.15am in time to rehearse with the other participating schools, the coach will be departing from WGS at8.40amYear 2 pupils will therefore need to be in school on 15th March by 8.35am at the latest.

They will wear smart school uniform and will require their purple fleece.

The children will have prepared two massed items to be sung with the following participating schools: St Christopher’s, Homefield in Sutton, The Merlin, Downsend, Shreswbury Lodge, together with the senior advanced choir and musicians from Caterham School. They will have also learnt two contrasting short songs to sing on their own representing WGS – one of these being in a foreign language. We will be learning these in our music lessons this term and I would really appreciate any support at home learning the lyrics which will be sent home in the coming weeks.

You are welcome and encouraged to attend the performance which starts at 11.30am and will be held at St Martin’s Church, Church Street, Epsom, KT17 4PX. Please could you let the office know how many seats you will require in order that this information can be passed onto the organisers.

Please complete the permission slip via the attached link: Monday 29th January.

We look forward to an exciting day of singing and music making.

Kind regards

Mrs N Hill
