SUBJECT: PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT - ELMONT MEMORIAL HIGH SCHOOL
Elmont Memorial High School is committed to providing parents with opportunities to participate in the educational development of their children. This arises from our core belief that we as a school community share the responsibility for student achievement and must create a partnership where parent participation and input is sought after and valued.
1. Parents will be involved in the planning, design and implementation of the Title I program through:
a. Attendance at the annual Title I Parent Meeting.
b. Annual review and evaluation of the School-Parent Compact.
c. Annual review of Parent Involvement Policy.
d. The completion of surveys related to parental involvement as needed.
e. Access to administrators responsible for coordinating and maintaining the school level Title I budget as well as school wide Title I programs.
f. Participation on the school-wide Title I Committee.
2. Elmont Memorial High school will build understanding and provide training for parents regarding standards, curriculum, and student achievement through:
a. The annual parent-teacher conferences.
b. PTA meetings and grade level parent workshops focused on learning standards, curriculum ,and assessments
c. The annual Title I Parent meeting.
d. The annual Orientation Program for incoming 7th grade students.
e. Access to student schedules before the start of school through the Parent Portal.
f. Opportunities to attend team meetings/ conferences throughout the school year for students in grades 7 & 8.

g. The Elmont Memorial High School Website.
h. Quarterly Report cards and Progress reports available on the Parent Portal.
i. Access to teachers via email and telephone.
j. Annual review meetings with guidance counselors.
k. Grade-level meetings with parents sponsored by the Pupil Personnel Services department.
l. Specific mailings related to assessments, extra help programs, assessment/Regents review programs and practice assessments including those supported by Title I funds.
3. Information about school programs as well as Title I programs will be made available to parents through the following methods. Translation for written and digital communication will be made available in languages that parents can understand to the greatest degree possible:
a. Annual mailings.
b. The Elmont Memorial High School Calendar.
c. The Elmont Memorial High School Website.
d. ConnectEd telephone calls.
e. Announcements on the Elmont Memorial Digital sign.
f. Announcements on Elmont Memorial’s Twitter feed.
4. Elmont Memorial High school will promote parental involvement by:
a. Encouraging parental participation in the PTSA.
b. Encouraging parents to attend school functions and events.
c. Providing parents with support with Parent Portal Registration.
d. Encouraging parents to attend parental education programs sponsored by The Sewanhaka Central High School District such as Parent University.
e. Inviting parents to attend meetings sponsored by the Pupil Personnel Services department, including but not limited to grade-level Parent Nights, Financial Aid Night, and AP Night.

5. Elmont Memorial High School will build capacity of its teachers, clinicians, and building administrators through:
a. Partnering with our PTA, Central Council of PTAs Liaisons, SEPTA, and other community based parent organizations on planning and delivering workshops and trainings that build the capacity and skills of school staff in effective strategies for reaching out and involving parents in their child/children’s education.
6. Elmont Memorial High School will partner with outside organizations:
a. Partner with organizations such as Gateway Youth Organization and the Belmont Race track to coordinate and supplement age appropriate programs to promote student achievement and parent involvement
