LESS LETHAL INSTRUCTOR’S COURSE

(Calif. POST Plan IV)

DESCRIPTION
This two day comprehensive course will develop students as agency instructors in the use of less lethal munitions and launchers. Topics of instruction include instructor development, use of force and liability issues, the different types of munitions and launchers currently available, tactical considerations, deployment procedures, suggested less lethal policy concerns, medical issues and proper documentation. During this course, students will be required to prepare a short lesson plan and demonstrate their ability to instruct others within a classroom setting. Students will also have to pass a written test as well as demonstrate proficiency with their agencies approved less lethal munitions and launchers. California POST Plan IV. 1076-30985-08004

LEAD INSTRUCTOR
R. K. Miller, Huntington Beach, (CA) Police Dept. 30 years law enforcement experience and over 17 years of tactical team assignments. R. K. has a wide range of experience in providing firearms, less lethal and tactical training.

REGISTRATION

This course is limited to 24 students on a first come, first served basis. To make reservations, please contact R. K. Miller at (714) 363-1569 or . Please leave contact name, number and e-mail. The NTC cancellation policy requires at least two (2) weeks notice prior to the start of the class for cancellation of reservations. Agencies cancelling previously made reservations with less than two weeks notice will be charged an appropriate fee. “No-shows” will result in the agency being billed the full tuition if no replacement student is enrolled by the agency making the reservation.

EQUIPMENT:

At least one less lethal launcher (12ga and/or 37mm/40mm launcher) and at least 30 rounds of Department approved less lethal munitions per student, hearing protection, wrap-around eye protection and note taking material.

NTC Course certifications do not have specific time limits. Students are encouraged to maintain their skills and knowledge. To help accomplish this, it is N.T.C.’s policy that past students in good standing be allowed to attend future NTC courses in the same discipline at no additional cost if the size of the class permits it.
