- Duration: Permanent
- Salary: £22,000 to £25,000 per annum
- Working Hours/Pattern: 35 hours per week. Monday to Friday, 0900-1700 hours.Flexible working arrangements will be considered.

About this role:
This is a vital role in the organisation, calling for a high calibre person who can provide administrative, secretarial and practical support to the Board of Trustees, Directors Group and the Senior Management Group.
Duties will be wide and varied ranging from governance and committee servicing and diary management to liaison with service users, volunteers and high level donors. It requires a resilient individual who can both serve others and act on her/his own initiative, using common sense and discretion, while working to tight deadlines and the highest standards.

Key responsibilities:
- To provide organisational, administrative and secretarial support to the Directors Group and Senior Management Group including complex diary management
- Attend meetings on behalf of the Director, Chief Operating Officer or member of Directors Group
- To act as Company Secretary to the Board of Trustees of The Reader and the Board of Directors of Calderstones Mansion House Community Interest Company (each meets 4 times per year)
- To act as secretary to The Reader Group Audit Committee, Nominations Committee and Capital Committee
- To take responsibility for liaison with Companies House, The Charities Commission, the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulators and more general compliance and governance matters
- To help the Chief Operating Officer and members of the Directors Group keep the risk register up to date
- To take editorial responsibility for internal communications, in particular through the Weekly Update
- Any other duties that may be required as part of the role as requested by the Directors Group

Essential:

- Understand the necessity of dealing carefully, and within data protection legislation, with confidential matters, including handling both personal and business-critical information
- Performs consistently well whilst managing a diverse and, at times, extremely busy, workload across flexible working hours
- Competent and experienced with Microsoft packages
Desirable:
- Experience of diary management
- Experience of Committee servicing
- Degree or equivalent relevant professional qualifications
- Experience of managing/overseeing the work of others
- Experience of Microsoft Dynamics or similar CRM system
- Experience of Adobe PDF writer software
- Experience of charity governance requirements
