DESCRIPTIONAmerica Walks is seeking a dynamic professional to serve as a Program Coordinator for America Walks. The position will work with senior staff to coordinate a variety of programmatic elements, manage evaluation of programs, and serve as the lead on program-related technology including social meeting tools.

This person will work from a remote, self-provided office, but must be a strong team player in order to collaborate with staff and organizational partners to grow the national walking movement and build awareness about the importance of walking and walkability among individuals and organizations.

This staff person will work report to the Heidi Simon, Communications and Public Affairs Manager of America Walks.

Program Coordination

  • Support America Walks’ programs, including coordinating and supporting meetings for the Every Body Walk! Collaborative and our in-person workshops
  • Serve as the behind-the-scenes technology manager and meeting support for social meetings and events
  • Support National Coalition Director with administrative and logistical support for the Every Body Walk! Collaborative
  • Provide program support for our CDC contract as needed
  • Support other events, such as the 2017 National Walking Summit

Program Evaluation

  • Work with staff to coordinate, design and run the evaluation of key America Walks programs
  • Monitor and manage evaluations
  • Write up program evaluation reports

Technology Management

  • Research, manage and moderate social meeting technologies used for programs
  • Support program team using on-linetools to evaluate programs
  • Work across the staff team to improve synergy between their work and our technology systems

Database Management

  • Work with staff and contractors to improve database systems and content, including some data entry
  • Work with staff to coordinate, design and implement surveys to increase our understanding of the National Walking movements, including associated organizations, agencies, and leaders that are working in their states and communities

QUALIFICATIONSA qualified professional will have:

  • At least 3-5 years of relevanteducation and/or professional experience, including demonstrated successful project coordination experience
  • Experience in designing and implementing evaluation tools
  • Familiarity with on-line technology, and ability to quickly learn new social-meeting software applications
  • Ability to work with multiple staff and partners to support teams and conduct administrative work
  • Organized and detail oriented work ethic

Preferred candidate experience includes:

  • Understanding of CRMs and databases, and how they interface with email clients and other technology
  • Higher education and/or advanced training
  • Grant research and writing skills
  • Familiaritywith walking issues and walkable communities

The successful candidate must be a self-starter, able to work well in coalition, and able to work from a self-provided remote office without daily supervision. Periodic travel as well as some weekend and evening work may be required.

COMPSENATIONThe position offers a starting salary in the range of $40,000 - $48,000/year depending on experience. Employee benefits include an office stipend for personal computer, internet and telephone use and an additional stipend intended to be for personal and medical needs. Full-time staff members accrue three weeks of PTO per year plus eight holidays.
