As a condition of publication, it is essential that you grant us the copyright to your contribution. After publication of the work, and upon your written request, the Press will grant you permission to publish your contribution in any scholarly or professional journal, subject only to your giving proper credit in the journal to prior publication in the present work.

Consent to Publish and Warranty
Whereas the University of Texas Press is undertaking to publish the work named above, of which the undersigned is author of one or more parts, the author transfers and assigns exclusively to the Press the copyright therein and all rights protected by copyright law for the term of copyright in the United States and elsewhere and any renewals or extensions thereof. The author warrants that his or her contribution is original and that he or she is the sole author and owner of the contribution and has full power to make this grant.
Acceptance and Approval
The author and the Press mutually agree that publication of the author’s contribution is contingent upon its acceptance for publication by the editor of the work, and, further, upon its formal and final approval for publication by the Faculty Advisory Committee, without whose approval no publication by the Press takes place.
Previous Publication
The author guarantees that none of the material included in his or her contribution has been previously published or, if it has been previously published in whole or in part, that he or she has obtained an assignment of copyright in the name of the Press. Such assignments shall be submitted with the author’s manuscript.
Compensation
The author will receive no royalty or other monetary return from the Press for the use of his or her material, unless stipulated otherwise in our agreement with the editor of the work, but in lieu thereof, he or she will receive one (1) free copy of the published work. The author may purchase additional copies of the work for his or her own use by direct order to the University of Texas Press at a 50% discount from the list price.
