Hours: 37½ hours per week(Expected flexible working pattern of Monday – Friday between 9am – 5pm with expectation of working on a rota basis to cover weekend/ evenings to meet customer demand/event bookings)

Salary:£26,000 - £30,000

Reports to: Executive Director

Work base:The Healthy Living Centre, Walton Court, Aylesburybut travel throughout the county is required

Job Summary

The Healthy Living Centre Community Interest Companyis a well established, vibrant social enterprisebased in Aylesbury. It provides a variety of health and wellbeing services to areas of high deprivation in Aylesbury and the county. The organisationis in a period of growth and development and the post holder will play a pivotal role in this.

The Community Development Manager will co-ordinate the development, implementation and evaluation of community development initiatives, prioritising those in areas of deprivation in Buckinghamshire. The post holder will proactively engage with current and potential partner organisations and community groups to address areas of need. The post holder will manage multiple projects and be the lead on writing reports and data

Main Responsibilities – The post holder will be the lead for Community Development work and will:

  • Be responsible to proactively manage grants, projects and contracts, complete monitoring and data returns in a timely manner with monthly reports to the Executive Director and other agencies.
  • Strategically and operationally lead and support the Community Development Teamand all its associated projects.
  • Lead on the financial forecasting and budget management of the department.
  • Maintain purposeful working relationships with community groups, individuals, partners and colleagues to promote the work of The Healthy Living Centre.
  • Work with colleagues and external agencies to identify the wider needs of the local community.
  • Lead on translating identified needs into appropriate service provision in areas of need in partnership with other agencies where appropriate.

  • Be responsible for the collection, recording, monitoring and review ofperformance and statistical data relating to Community Development work for the Bucks County Council Contract and Local Conversations Project.
  • Manage, lead, motivateand support the Community Development Team to enable them to reach their full potentialusing the supervision and appraisal process to identify staff development and training needs.
  • Support volunteers working within the Community Development Team.
  • Ensure delivery of excellent customer care and services by the Community Development Team.
  • Identify, plan, monitor, review and evaluatefuture initiatives involving stakeholders where appropriate.
  • Engage with individuals and encourage and support them in accessing community development initiatives.
  • Empower and facilitate individuals and communities to identify and articulate their needs, opportunities, rights and responsibilities.
  • Raise public awareness and promoteservices and projects run by The Healthy Living Centre to service users and community groups.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of initiatives, providing reports to Executive Director, partners and funding bodies as required.
  • Develop relationships and networks to identify community needs, opportunities and potential funding sources.
  • Co-ordinate the delivery of community based training programmes.
  • Review services and identify potential for development to support communities.
  • Contract/grant management lead for community development projects. Liaising with funders and partners ensuring the provision of information as required.
  • Represent the HLC at events and meetings as required.
  • Undertake research in relation to the local population and areas of deprivation to support the development of services.
  • Working with colleagues develop proposals and project plans to address identified areas of need.
  • Make positive contribution to the HLC’s management team.
  • Ensure HLC community development initiatives adhere to all appropriate regulatory requirements.
  • Undertake administration associated with community projects and training programmes.
  • Undertake training as required.
  • Undertake other work that may arise on a day-to-day basis to support the objectives of the HLC as requested by Executive Director.
