CLUB RULES AND ELIGIBILITY 2018
AIMS OF THE CLUB
· First & most importantly is to promote “a friendly club atmosphere” for you to enjoy your racing.
· To provide a more affordable form of racing while allowing certain machine development.
· To provide a competitive race series & championship for pre 1987 Road based machines.
MEMBERSHIP
Membership will run from 1st January to 31st December. Anyone who has not completed a membership form paid their membership fee in full before they race will not score points or receive trophies.
CLASSES
In total there are 7 Earlystocks Classes for 2018 these are defined in the red highlighting as follows:-
Twin Shock air cooled Classes – pre 1987
1300 Class ………..... 776cc to 1300cc
750 Class ………….... 526cc to 775cc
500 Class …………. 200cc to 525cc
Monoshock Classes – pre 1987
Class 1:-Water- cooled up to 375cc & air cooled up to 625cc
Class 2: Water- cooled or alloy framed two stoke or four stroke multi valve up to 775cc, any 2 valve four stroke up to 1025cc any steel framed four stroke up to 1300cc.
Modified Class – pre 1987
Class 3:- Any machine eligible for any of the above classes with further permitted modifications. Please see Class 3 eligibility regs for further details.
Twins Singles - pre 1987
200cc - 1000 Class (Eurostocks) ………. 200cc to 1025cc
British or European Twin shock or Monoshock machines eligible for any Twin Shock Class or Monoshock Class 1 or 2 any European or otherwise Twin or Single Cylinder machine eligible for any Twin Shock air cooled class.
AWARDS
Points will be awarded at each championship round irrespective of and separate from any championship run by the promoting club.
End of year awards will be awarded to all classes but will be dependent on the level of support for the relevant class. Further details will be issued in the supplementary regs.
Championship points will be awarded as follows 1st ~ 10, 2nd ~ 8, 3rd ~ 6, 4th ~ 5, 5th ~ 4, 6th ~ 3, 7th~ 2, 8th~1
Points will be awarded in both races on the day and trophies generally for the first race of the day only.
In the event of more than 2 races per day class points will only be awarded in the first two races.
In the event of a weekend meeting the events planned each day will count as a separate championship round. In the event of only one race being run at a championship round this will carry double points.

GENERAL MACHINE ELIGIBILITY
ELIGIBLE MACHINES (FOR ALL CLASSES)
All machines must be based on a production machine of a type readily available in the UK pre1987 i.e. listed in the manufacturers or importers UK market model range in1986 or earlier. Specialist frame manufacturer’s machines such as P&M’s, Bimotas etc are not considered to be production machines. Limited editions or machines imported for homologation purposes prior to the official UK model launch date are not permitted e.g. TZR250’s imported for the1986 Production TT purposes etc.
Production means sold in the UK by either manufacturer or importer suitable for road use as supplied in standard condition.
POST 1986 MODELS
Models that continued in production post 1986 for example a Suzuki GSXR750H will be eligible as long as the specifications of the main frame loop, forks, wheels and brakes remained unaltered unless class regs permit such changes. Any such changes in chassis spec must remain within permitted modifications. Any difference in engine specification that is beyond any permitted class modification must be shown to have no performance advantage as originally produced.
IMPORTS
Although the eligibility rules relate to UK spec machines it is realised that many machines that are available are either imports or have ended up with import spec sub assemblies. To take this into account imports with a non UK model standard specification or UK models fitted with import spec parts will only be automatically eligible if any difference in chassis specification complies with permitted modifications within a particular class. Any difference in engine specification beyond permitted class modifications must be shown to have no performance advantage as originally produced.
DEFINITION OF MACHINE TYPE
Due to the large number of versions of the same basic models that have been made over the years where the word standard is used in the regs it will relate to a machine type rather than a specific actual model. When considering if machines are of the same basic type the main deciding factor would be if they shared the same basic main frame loop. For example a Honda CB750 and CB900 share the same main frame loop and you could convert a CB750 to a CB900 by fitting the larger engine and if running in a class that required standard diameter forks you could fit the larger diameter forks that were fitted to the later CB900’s.
GENERAL
For clarification of any points you’re unsure of, e.g. engine mods, replacement engine units etc please contact us preferably by telephone to prevent potentially expensive mistakes.
To be eligible for points and trophies machines must comply with the appropriate eligibility regs.
The onus is on the rider to prove eligibility to the committee of the machine he/she rides should it be required.
Certain bikes which may not initially fall into one of the current classes may be allowed to race subject to the committee’s approval.
All machines must comply with all A.C.U. regulations.
TWIN SHOCK CLASSES ELIGIBILITY
Any twin shock air cooled production machine available pre 1987 and certain twin shock water cooled machines are allowed e.g. Suzuki GT750, Honda VT500 and CX500 etc.
FRAMES
Main frame loop and geometry must remain standard i.e. steering head angle must not be altered. The addition of gussets or other forms of bracing is permitted provided the general appearance of the frame remains close to standard i.e. general profile remains unaltered. You cannot add a perimeter box section frame and claim it is merely a braced standard frame as it retains the original headstock and swing arm pivot points. The choice of swing arm is unrestricted as are rear shocks but top suspension mounts are to remain as standard.
FORKS & YOKES
Front forks must be from a production machine i.e. no race forks etc. Stanchion diameter to be no greater than that of original forks, no USD forks. Internal modifications are permitted. Yokes must be from the same manufacturer as the frame. Period type steering dampers i.e. cylindrical piston types are permitted. Fork braces are allowed.
WHEELS
Any wheel not from a production machine must be of a period type available pre 1987.
FRONT WHEEL
Minimum diameter 18” no rim width limitations.
REAR WHEEL
No diameter restriction, maximum rim width 4.5”.
TYRES
Only moulded treaded race tyres or road legal tyres are permitted, “WETS” are not permitted, no cut tyres. Tyre warmers are not permitted.
750cc and 1300cc class machines are limited to a maximum rear nominal tyre section of 160.
500cc class and single/twin cylinder machines are limited to a maximum rear nominal tyre section of 130.
BRAKES
Front Brakes. Any twin piston calipers may be used. Any discs and master cylinder may be used. Fitment of twin discs is permitted.
Rear Brakes. Any rear brakes are permitted.
BODYWORK
Non standard seats, tanks, handlebars and rear sets are permitted. Fairings are not allowed unless standard fitment, pattern type fairings i.e. same general size and shape are permitted in such cases.
Lower fairings may be modified to comply with the ACU oil containment regs.
A belly pan used as an oil containment device will not be considered to be a fairing or part of fairing.
There is no requirement to run a fairing or part of fairing.
All road going equipment e.g. lights etc. may be removed.
For machines without fairings the front number plate must be a flat plate curved in one plane only i.e. not made to resemble a fairing.
ENGINES & FUEL SYSTEMS
No fitment of aftermarket positive pressure airboxes or conversion to fuel injection allowed.
No rider aides e.g. slipper clutches, quick shifters etc allowed. Unless standard fitment ignition and fuel systems should be separate and independent. Crank phasing to remain as standard.
Any conventional tuning i.e. big bore kit, exhausts, ignition, cams, carbs etc is allowed.
Main castings i.e. crankcases, barrels and heads to be of original manufacturer and from a production machine. Numbers of valves are to remain as standard, crankshaft stroke to remain standard, with the following exception: - Engine size may be increased by using a long stroke crank, only if replacement crank fits without modification to either itself or crankcases. E.g. XJ600 crank can be fitted to an XJ550.
Addition of any material to, and subsequent machining of, main castings either as a performance aide or to enable fitment of alternative heads, barrels etc is not allowed.
Fitment of oil coilers is permitted.
USE OF REPLACEMENT ENGINES
The use of a replacement engine unit even from a later non eligible machine is permitted as long as the replacement is of the same generic type. Broadly speaking this would be a later, and or, larger version of the same basic type of engine, i.e. a development or progression of the original engine, not a new design. The number of valves, engine stroke etc to remain as per original.
Where engine modifications effectively allow an engine can be converted to a larger version i.e. Z650 with a Z750 top end or XJ550 fitted with XJ600 barrels and crank etc. Then later versions of this engine i.e. Z750, and in effect an XJ600 engine can be fitted.
MONOSHOCK CLASSES ELIGIBILITY
Any production monoshock machine available pre 1987.
FRAMES
Water cooled and/or alloy framed machines
Main frame loop, swing arm and suspension linkages to remain as standard, i.e. standard geometry and no additional bracing, brackets to fit non standard seat units etc are not considered to be bracing.
Steel framed machines
Main frame loop and suspension linkages to remain standard, i.e. standard geometry and no additional bracing, brackets to fit non standard seat units etc are not considered to be bracing. Non standard swing arms are permitted.
FORKS & YOKES
Forks and yokes to remain same manufacturer as frame. Stanchion diameter to be no greater than that of original forks, no USD forks permitted. Internal modifications are allowed. Steering dampers of period type, .i.e. cylindrical piston type, are permitted. Non standard fork braces are allowed.
WHEELS
Wheels to remain as standard fitment.
TYRES

No restrictions on tyre size.
BRAKES
Standard sized discs to be retained calipers to have no more than the original number of pistons. Any master cylinder may be used. Any machine originally fitted with a single piston caliper may up rate to a twin piston caliper. Any machine fitted with a single disc may up rate to twin discs if original forks and wheel permit this without modification.
BODYWORK
Non standard seats, tanks, handlebars and rear sets are permitted. Fairings are not allowed unless standard fitment, pattern fairings i.e. same general size and shape are permitted in such cases.

Gearbox, clutch and primary drive to remain as standard fitment i.e. no close ratio boxes, straight cut primary dive or dry clutch conversions. Number of valves and crankshaft stroke to remain standard. Addition of and subsequent machining of any material to main castings carried out as part of the tuning process or to enable fitment of alternative heads, barrels etc is not permitted. Fitment of/replacement oil coolers and replacement radiators are permitted.
Water cooled/alloy frame
Carburettors to remain of original type i.e. CV or slide type of no greater venturi size than original fitment carbs. No accelerator pumps or power jets unless they were standard on original carbs. No boring of any carbs is permitted.
Injectors/ throttle bodies to remain as standard fitment.
Steel Frame machines upto 775cc aircooled
Any carburettors may be used. Fuel injection systems may be uprated or changed for any carbs.
Steel frame machines upto 1300cc aircooled
Carburettors to remain of original type i e. CV or slide type of no greater venturi size than original fitment carbs. No accelerator pumps or power jets unless they were standard on original carbs. No boring of any carbs is permitted.
