Urafirth Early Years Admissions Process – Nov 2015

Registrations for Early Years placement are invited by the local authority in February, with places being allocated by following local authority placement policy. Throughout the year admission packs can be obtained from Urafirth Primary School office.

Urafirth Primary and Early Years have strong links with the local community. The majority of babies and young children are introduced to the setting through informal attendance at the Under-5s group held each Monday in the school. A range of events and activities are hosted throughout the year to help foster and strengthen those relationships across the whole school community. This makes beginning Early Years a more natural and supported experience.

Prior to your child starting Early Years, the school will contact you to arrange a visit day for you and your child. This will normally be as your child approaches their 3rd birthday, however as per council policy, there is no intake in the summer term. For those children born after mid February this means they will start in August. The initialvisit will allow you to explore the setting, meet the staff and children, and to ask any questions over a cuppa. At this point we also discuss and agree possible start dates and days of attendance.

A confirmation/reminder letter will be sent to you approximately 1 week before your child is due to join the Early Years setting.

The number of days attended can be built up as your child relaxes into the setting and becomes more confident. You are also welcome to stay in the Early Years class, or have a cuppa in the staffroom, until you are secure that your child feels relaxed and happy in the setting.

Staff are always approachable and happy to assist in making the transition into nursery a positive experience.
