Ministry of skill development will issue certificate to non-certified workers-Shri Rajiv Pratap Rudy

  • High level meeting between Skill Development Minister Shri Rudy and Petroleum Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan
  • Infinite possibilities of skill upgradation in the field of hydrocarbon

Like Railways and Defence Ministry, Petroleum Ministry too will move ahead by imbibing the programmes of the skill development and entrepreneurship ministry through its eight public undertakings and will play a pivotal role in ‘Kushal Bharat Nirman’ mission by upgrading the skills of the youths. Around 134 skill development services in exploration and production, oil refining and marketing, gas processing and hydrocarbon sector have been identified, for which the skills development and entrepreneurship ministry will impart technical knowledge and make them competent. For this a high level meeting was held between Skills Development Minister Shri Rajiv Pratap Rudy and Minister of Petroleum& Natural Gas Shri Dharmendra Pradhan along with senior departmental officials informed Minister of State for Skills Development and Entrepreneurship (Independent Charge) and Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Shri Rajiv Pratap Rudy. Representatives of the Ministry Petroleum India Petroleum Corporation Ltd, Cairn India Ltd., Engineers India Limited., Gail India LTD., HPCL, ONGC, Oil India ltd., Reliance Industries Ltd., and Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology were also present.

Dwelling on the field of hydrocarbon in the petroleum ministry, skill development minister Shri Rudy said that there are infinite possibilities of skill development in this field. He said that the skill development ministry is coordinating with the petroleum ministry for possibilities of partnership. He said that various 134 services have been identified in the hydrocarbon sector for which the said ministry could be helped with the qualification pack to upgrade the skills. He said that the petroleum ministry has several oil refineries in the various fields in the country whose upgradation requires skilled workers. There are many non-certified workers in this field who are deprived of due salary commensurate with their skill because they don’t have the skill as decided by labour certified standard. Shri Rudy said that there are certified and non certified skilled workers in the country but despite working in various fields, the non-certified workers are paid comparatively less than those workers who are certified. The skill development department is trying to eliminate this discrepancy between the two categories having same skill. The union minister said that the ministry will certify the skills of such skilled workers and they will be given certificates like (Recognition of prior learning) so that they will be able to get money as per their skills. Besides, the new youngsters will also be trained. Besides the departmental secretaries, the meeting was attended by other senior officials too.
