8.Importance
Explain the significance of the proposed project to the UW Tacoma campus community. In what ways does the proposed project support the University’s strategic plan.
A VCL reduces the space needs of the campus when scaling up to meet increases in student enrollment. The students can access the VCL’s resources from any capable computer, including cell phones, laptops and home computers, providing more time for scholarly activities. This is an innovative use of technology to support a remote student learning environment. A VCL can serve as a future computing model for the campus which enables distance learning involving computing resources and software.

Provide a planning timeline that indicates approximately when the proposed activities will take place, and when the project will be completed. Funds granted must be spent and proposed activities completed by December 31, 2010.
