Clean, safe and efficient meat processing

IFFA 2016: Habasit exhibits innovative belting solutions and services to support clean, safe and efficient meat processing

IFFA is the leading international trade fair for processing, packaging and sales in the meat industry and will take place from 7th to 12th May 2016 in Frankfurt/Germany. One of the central topics for the meet processing industry is the safe transporting from station to station. Meat must be transported to processing stations, packaging machines and storage areas with high levels of accuracy and under strict legal requirements for save food handling. Habasit, the international leading manufacturer of transport and processing conveyor belts, provides a comprehensive portfolio of innovative belt solutions which is perfectly tailored to the requirements of the meet processing industry. Habasit will be presenting its innovative solutions in Hall 9.1 at Booth B50.

Reinach/Switzerland, April 2016 – It doesn’t matter if it comes to cutting, deboning, trimming, grading, dressing, breading, frying, cooling, freezing, weighing, slicing, portioning, shrink-wrapping, labeling or packaging – Habasit, as the worlds leading manufacturer of conveyor and processing belts, has the right solution for all applications in the meet processing industry. This includes extruded positive drive and flat belts, plastic modular belts and a unique conveyor belt cleaning system that provides clean and efficient processing of sensitive foodstuff. Habasit’s belting solutions are designed to deliver hygiene upgrades, increased yields and cost reductions. Habasit will be presenting its innovative solutions at IFFA 2016 in Hall 9.1 at Booth B50.

Habasit Cleandrive™ now available in 1.8 m / 72" seamless width

Habasit Cleandrive™ monolithic reinforced conveyor belts provide significant advantages in hygienic design and cleanability. Targeting hygiene sensitive applications in the food processing industry, particularly in processes that currently use plastic modular belts, the advanced Habasit Cleandrive™ technology meets the most stringent requirements while delivering exceptional performance.

The unique range of monolithic belts is now manufactured at a seamless width of 1.8 m / 72" which tremendously expands the scope of belting applications where Habasit Cleandrive™ is available. Habasit Cleandrive™ belts have a completely smooth sink-mark free conveying surface which provides optimum scraper efficiency. The reverse side structure consist of hygienically engineered full width drive bars that engage perfectly into the specially designed HyCLEAN sprocket series to ensure a zero tension positive drive. Reinforced with strong aramid cords, the belts deliver reliable belt performance throughout the life of the belt.

Another feature is the ability to fabricate these belts with a lace joint, which provides quick, on-site installation and easy belt removal for more efficient cleaning of the conveyor.

HabasitLINK® plastic modular belts

Habasit has improved the design of plastic modular belts to make them even more suitable for demanding meat cutting and processing applications. HabasitLINK® plastic modular belts feature dynamic open hinges to improve easy cleaning and the release of debris. The patented HyCLEAN product family has a unique hygienic design that enables 85% access to the pivot-rod and 100% hinge accessibility for improved and efficient cleaning. Another innovation by Habasit is the Micropitch belt, the smallest available belt pitch on the market that allows the belts to run over a 7 mm diameter nosebar.

HabasitLINK® plastic modular belts with Saniclip system

Habasit has recently introduced another evolution to the Plastic Modular Belt range, namely the Saniclip system. This is an innovative device for quick and easy belt installations and repairs. With Habasit Saniclip modular belts can now be taken apart without any tools or special skills within a few seconds. This is achieved by a dedicated special rod design that even comes in different color than the belt to clearly indicate the position for removal.

Habasit Saniclip makes belt installations and removal for cleaning more simple and reliable than ever before. The Saniclip opening system is currently available for Habasit Micropitch, M1065 Flat Top and M1185 Flush Grid products. Be on the lookout for further HabasitLINK® products with the Saniclip system.

The HyCLEAN CIP system – a patented, awarded belt cleaning system

The HyCLEAN CIP (Clean in Place) system is designed for flexible, economical and reliable cleaning of plastic modular and other belting products. A unique feature is that the system works with low water pressure. The superior performance of the HyCLEAN CIP has been proven under test conditions to deliver substantially reduced water consumption (approx. 50% less) compared to currently used state-of-the-art CIP systems, and to provide outstanding hygienic results. The HyCLEAN CIP not only delivers savings though reduced water consumption, but also reduces safety risks and labor cost by drastically reducing the need to manually clean the conveyor belts.

The patented and proven Habasit HyCLEAN CIP system was awarded the EHEDG Certificate of Compliance with Hygienic Design Principles. It also won a silver medal FoodTec Innovation Award in 2012.

HabasitLINK® plastic modular spiral belt solutions and services

Habasit offers many plastic modular belts suitable for installation on spiral cooling or freezing systems. The plastic modular spiral belts achieve remarkable waste reductions thanks to their improved release and non-marking properties. HabasitLINK® plastic modular belts also enable considerable energy savings compared to the use of heavy metal belts. Faster installation, repairs and cleaning are additional advantages of plastic modular spiral belts. To ensure the optimal installation and performance of spiral systems, Habasit has established dedicated teams to evaluate and install spiral systems.

Coated belts with dedicated materials and features for the meat industry

Habasit’s portfolio contains a broad range of fabric based coated belts, among them, materials with excellent abrasion and chemical resistance as well as suitability for continuous reliable performance in wet and humid processes.

An example is Habasit Cleanline® Generation II, an upgrade of the unique range of polyolefin (TPO) coated food belts. With proven features like excellent release properties and very good chemical resistance, Habasit has now substantially improved the wear resistance of the coating against abrasive foodstuff and interaction with TPU scrapers. This establishes Habasit Cleanline® Generation II even more as a key belting solution for machines and processes that are subject to moisture and frequent cleaning, all of which are common conditions in the meat industry.

Another remarkable solution within this product family are the UV-C resistant TPU belts, which were specifically designed for improved performance and service-life in applications and processes that are equipped with UV-C radiation disinfection devices.

Furthermore, there are oil and fat resistant HySAN belts and a huge variety of belting accessories and fabrication capabilities to ensure optimal belt design for each application.

Special covers for reliable conveying precision

HabaSYNC® timing belts were especially designed to ensure gentle and precise conveying of goods in high-speed or high-precision processes. Habasit has the capability to apply a wide variety of TPU covers on HabaSYNC® timing belts to optimize applications, for example proper feeding of meat slicing, check-weighing or packaging lines.
