- Twenty nine people, representing 19 households, attended the meeting on a rainy day. Included were Bill & Valerie Kreilick, Larry & Ruth Jelf, Bobbin Phelps-Gredell, John & Jean Sniffen, Jim & Judy Campbell, Steve & Donna Kluting, Diane & Gary Dickinson, Larry Kehoe, Al & Nancy Breitkoph, Barney Murray, Vicki Hardie, Linda Pillow, Ruth Vetter, George Stutz, Buddy & Neva Daugherty, Gordon & JereSchalla, Dawn Herring, Karen Clint, Gary & SusanHawthorne.

- A copy of the Treasurer’s Report is attached to these Minutes and incorporated by reference.
- Old Business:
- The idea of creating a Hill ‘n Dales’ website was discussed. As explained the website could contain information such as a directory, map, profiles, meeting announcements, meeting minutes, party announcements, property for sale or rent, obituaries, garage sale, deed restrictions, news clips, lost & found, and emergency numbers & contacts.
The following suggestions were made:
-Do not publish any personal information.
-Create a website with the Hills n’ Dales domain name. The monthly fee would be paid for from property owner’s annual donations.
-Ask a property owner to volunteer and act as the website administrator - - to oversee, maintain, and add & delete information.
Larry Kehoe suggested we design a simple website for the organization. Valerie Kreilick volunteered to be the website administrator. Vicki Hardie volunteered her husband Russell to work on the website. A motion was made and passed.
- The Kerr County EMERGENCY NOTIFICATION SYSTEM: CodeRED was discussed.
As a reminder: CodeRED “is a new Kerr County service by which Sheriff Office officials can notify any county residents by telephone about emergency situations or critical alerts. The speed of the CodeRED system (up to 60,000 calls per hour) is so great that the County is able to send a message to affected households almost as quickly as officials become aware of the situation.”
(Note: Property owner and renter can simply sign up to get on the CodeRED system. You can sign up at It is suggested that everyone add their cell phone numbers to CodeRED. If you have any questions, contact Deputy Hicks. She can be reached on her cell phone, 830-928-9902.)
It was also suggested that all property owners and renters create their own “game plan” as to what they would do in case of emergency.
Since there is only one entrance/exit to the Hills n’ Dales subdivision, (except for the roads into Roddy Tree), it was suggested that the Hill ‘n Dales (H&D) officers contact Roddy Tree for their gate code. This code would be known only to the H&D officers to be used only in an emergency. It was also suggested we contact Roddy Tree and Cypress Springs about developing a mutual emergency plan.
- New business:
- Election of new officers
The following persons were nominated and agreed to serve as officers of the organization for the 2012 -2013 year:
- President – Larry Kehoe, 367-3101
- Secretary – John Sniffen, 367-1727
- Treasurer – Linda Pillow (thirdterm), 367-7337
Gary Hawthorne (ex-president) and Jim Campbell (ex-secretary) were thanked for serving the organization.
- After much discussion about road signs, a motion was made and passed to purchase two deer crossing signs plus a slow-down sign and get the county to install them. It was also suggested that dip signsand dead end (or no outlet) signs be installed. These signs would be purchased with money from our property owner’s annual donations.
- Additionally, the Hills ‘n Dales’ entry signs were discussed. It was noted that the ground level sign needs to be repainted and repaired. The wood is rotting; the trim and lettering needs to be repainted; and the top pieces are coming undone. The large sign is OK, but the metal pole needs to be repainted.
- It was also recommended that the county be contacted about lowering the speed limit in the subdivision to 25 MPH instead of 30 MPH. A motion was passed.
- It was requested that all dogs be walked with a leash.
- Jean Sniffenrecommended a neighborhood clean-up day. It was agreed that suggestions be sent to her. She would then compile a project list of things to be done in the neighborhood, set a time and date, and send out a request for volunteers to work.
- Larry Jelf recommended having a water hose available when burning on your property. He also said it was best to have a rake or hoe handy, and keep fires contained in smaller and smaller piles as it burns.
- The H&D annual Holiday Party was discussed. It was decided that a party committee be organized. Attendees agreed that the party be held at Billy Gene’s Restaurant (as a first choice), or Rio Ranch Café if Billy Gene’s is unavailable. Larry Kehoe volunteered his wife Pat to head the committee. Karen Clint and Dawn Herring volunteered to be on the party committee.
Karen Clint suggested H&D support a community organization like the Hill Country Cares Women's Shelter by bringing a toy, gift, or food to the annual party at Billy Gene’s. She will include more information, as to what is needed when the party invitations are mailed.
Ruth Vetter reminder us that the Hills ‘n Dales Property Owners’ Organization is more than a social group. In the past this organization has banded together to get a better water system for our subdivision and fought to keep the county from building a trash dump site (collection site) in our area.
The meeting was adjourned at 10:25 a.m.
Minutes recorded by Jim Campbell, secretary
