Chief Officer

Seaview is a local charity focused on the needs of people in Hastings and St Leonards. It has a positive impact on the local community, despite working with a marginalised group who are often stigmatised and socially excluded.
Who do we work with?
Many of the people we support have multiple and complex needs (such as mental health needs, drug and alcohol problems), they have often led chaotic lifestyles and the support needed is often urgent and complex, requiring the skills of a specialist workforce which Seaview provides. The passion and commitment of the staff team means that very few people are turned away from the service – which consists of a Day Centre offering a safe and supportive space for clients – a base for the provision of meals, clothing, people, a telephone, and computer; Housing Support Service offering crisis accommodation and rough sleeper services and a Health Care service in partnership with St John Ambulance … all the resources to support people to regain control over their lives.
A committed group of staff and a team of about 50 volunteers run the service and the organisation is governed by a small but dedicated group of trustees.
We are now seeking a new strong and strategic Chief Officer to lead us, working with the Board to develop and deliver our agenda over the coming years. We are seeking an individual who can lead our organisation through challenging times, effectively raise our profile, influence and drive our ongoing transformation; whilst remaining at all times equally committed to ensuring the motivation, development and engagement of our staff and volunteers. Above all else, we are seeking a Chief Officer who will at all times ensure that at the core of everything we do there remains an unwavering focus on supporting our service users.
To be successful, you will be a strong and visible leader who has a collaborative yet entrepreneurial approach. You will have strong understanding of the needs of this client group and a track record of innovation, change and service improvement, coupled with an understanding of the needs of our commissioners. Emotionally intelligent, you will be an effective communicator with the ability to inspire and persuade.
If you believe that you have the passion, drive and commitment to lead our organisation, we would very much welcome an application from you.
Potential applicants are encouraged to phoneMike Cornish, current postholder on 01424 717981 or Anna Barnes, Chair Trustees on 07920 545544 for an informal discussion about the role.
