I worked for 4 weeks at ACC in Middelburg and was involved with the restoration of a continuous mining machine and spent 8 weeks investigating the maintenance and warranty system for MAN Truck and Bus Headquarters in Isando.Experience History
2009-2011
-I worked as a mechanic’s assistant for a few years at Ross Duncan Auto Services, on a part time basis – whilst at school (on weekends and holidays).
2010
-I attended a one week basic training course in vehicle maintenance and the aspects involved in Formula M racing. Notes were received and tests were conducted on a daily basis, as well as practical experience on a decommissioned Formula M racing car.
2013
-I attended vacation work for two weeks at Thermitrex PTY (Ltd) in Boksburg. This encompassed welding, foundry technology, laboratory, quality control, mould plant, inventory and casting simulation. I also attended the African Rail Exhibition 2013 and the Aveng Manufacturing Infraset Plant Overview.
-I also did four weeks vacation work at a private coal mine – Balindi Mining PTY (Ltd), in Middelburg. I was involved in the restoration of heavy mining equipment and educated in the processes of coal mining. I did practical work in assembly, welding, electrical and metal fabrication. Field work included mining processes, safety requirements and maintenance of equipment.
2014-2015
-I attended my final vacation work for an eight week period with MAN Truck and Bus Headquarters in Isando, whereby I investigated and concluded the substantial losses experienced within the after sales department. Time was also spent within the workshop whereby an engine was dismantled to ascertain the cause of it’s premature failure. Individual quotes obtained from the various dealerships were scrutinised with respect to original parts prices and identification codes, the history of the vehicles were thoroughly investigated and the findings of the investigation were summarised and presented to the board in a short presentation.
