Chapter President-elect Position Description

PURPOSE OF POSITION

The Chapter President-elect will spend the elect year working in partnership with the Chapter President; learning about the chapter infrastructure, projects, programs, funds, and future opportunities. This training is vital to the success of the chapter as the Chapter President-elect will assume the role of the Chapter President the following year, and must also be ready to assume the duties of the office in absence of the Chapter President for any reason during the elect year.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist the Chapter President in coordinating the activities of the Executive Committee, as well as various other committees.
  • Serve a one-year term of office as President-elect and a one-year term as President.
  • Serve as an advisor to the Chapter President while learning all aspects of the office of the President.
  • Attend all functions and meetings at which the Chapter President’s attendance is required.
  • Be familiar with all operations of APhA and APhA-ASP on the National, Regional, State, and Chapter levels (ex. Membership Operations Manual, Communications Guideline, Policy Capsule).
  • Have a working knowledge of the chapter’s constitution and bylaws to ensure that allpolicies and proceduresare followed in the course of chapter operations and meetings.
  • Record minutes for all Executive Committee meetings.
  • Disseminate all pertinent information received from APhA Headquarters to chapter members.
  • Ensure new officer information is provided to the Chapter Advisor by the end of spring term.
  • Participate as an ex-officio member on all committees.
  • Coordinate the election and transition processes for the incoming Executive Committee and other chapter committee chairs.
  • Transition the officially issued APhA-ASP DropBox account to newly elected officers.
  • Coordinate chapter reporting throughout the year, compile required documents, and submit Chapter Achievement Award report by July 15.
  • Oversee the appointed delegate in the planning of accommodations and travel to Regional and/or National APhA-ASP functions.
  • Coordinate the National Patient Counseling Competition.
  • Serve as a liaison to the New Practitioner Mentors.
  • Serve as liaison to local and state pharmacists association in collaboration with the State-Association Liaison.
  • Participate in APhA-ASP Webinar Week.
