The following is the list of topics that yourgroup will be researching and teaching the class.

Objective:

1/ Gather and organize information about imperialism in your specific area (Find Good Sources)

2/ Identify the motives behind Imperialism in your specific area

3/ Demonstrate an understanding of the implementation of Imperialism in your specific area

4/ Identify theconsequences of imperialism

5/ Share this information with the class in a neat, orderly and creative manner using Educreation

You will create an Educreationto present to the class.

The Educreation will include:

1/ A narrative of what we are watching. This must be recorded. This must sync with images class is seeing

- A TYPED script must be submitted

2/ Slide 1: Broad historical information of area imperialized including a Map

3/ Slide 2,3,4: Information on motivations behind imperialism in your area

- emphasize ECONOMIC, POLITICAL, and SOCIAL/CULTURALmotivators

- Images that speak to this (Imported pictures or hand-drawn)

4/ Slide 5,6,7: Information detailing the implementation of imperialism in your specific area

- 3 examples of events that show HOW the Europeans imperialized (methods used)

- This may include: Names ofkey individuals involved, explaining how they justifiedtheir actions

Ex: Social Darwinism, natural resources, nationalism, etc.

- Images that speak to this (Imported pictures or hand-drawn)

-5/ Slide 8,9,10: Information on consequences of imperialism in your area

-ex: decrease in population (give #s if possible)

- How did the events lead to nationalism in your region

- Were there Independence Movements against imperialist powers

- Give names of key leaders and events

- Images that speak to this (Imported pictures or hand-drawn)

- Handout for students to take notes on (Short guided note sheet)

- A bibliography with a minimum of three solid sources (individual) or four sources (partner)

- One Source will be Notes from a Packet I give you

- One Source must be from a research database through Stoga.net

- One Source may be a free website of your choosing

- Presentation time limit*see partner or individual rubric

Grade will include:

  • Well organized, understandable, easy to follow, and taken seriously
  • Typed Script Submitted
  • Emphasis put on MOTIVATIONS, EVENTS, PEOPLE, behind imperialism as well as the Impact/Effects/Consequences of imperialism
  • Narrative clear, comprehensive and easy to follow. Correlates to what we are watching
  • WORKSHEET for students to take notes on during the presentation
  • BIBLIOGRAPHY
  • See rubric for specific details
