Dear «First_Name»,

Thanks in part to your support, 2015 was another extremely successful year for the Bowen Basin Underground Geotechnical Society (BBUGS). The society held tours to 4 mines, had 4 society meetings, 24 technical presentations, sponsored a UQ industry night for mining geotechs, funded a $5000 scholarship, held a technical dinner, sponsored attendance at the ICGCM, uploaded the technical library to the web site, gave out attendance, presentation of the year and practitioner of the year awards and ended the year with a joint BBUGS/BOHOGS Suppliers Day which was attended by over 75 geotechnical engineers, suppliers, contractors and consultants. It was the first year that we collated a BBUGS/BOHOGS Supplier/Consultant/Contractor Compendium enabling our sponsors to have a full page advertisement of their capabilities. It was also the first year BBUGS and BOHOGS sponsored the ice breaker at the Bowen Basin Geology Symposium.

The intention of the BBUGS was, and still is, for Site Geotechnical Engineers, Geotechnical Consultants, Contractors, Roof Support Suppliers and OEMs to meet quarterly to network, share experiences and learnings and generally keep up with state of the art in the industry; but specifically focussed on underground coal geotechnical engineering. Over 6½ years we have had underground tours to every underground coal mine in the Bowen Basin, held 30 meetings and over 125 technical presentations have been given.

This coming year is looking to be bigger and better than ever, with plans to continue all of the above good work, plus increase the scholarships to 2 per year and add an additional workshop by Jim Galvin who will this year publish his long awaited textbook on Underground Coal Mine Ground Control. Tours are planned to the new Grosvenor and Kestrel South mines as well.

With the number of meetings and`over 200 persons on the mailing list, the administration and organisation of the society and meetings results in some financial outlay (meeting rooms, catering, booths, web page administration, awards, scholarships, etc.). For this reason BBUGS (a NFP society) are soliciting financial donations/contributions to offset the costs for the 2016 calendar year. The business case is based on one off annual contributions to support the Society for the year. Any contributions will be acknowledged through recognition and logos depicted on audio visual at meetings, supplier logos are posted on the BBUGS web page linked to their own home page and included on minutes of meetings and agendas, where appropriate. Sponsors will also get priority to display products and present to the society at the annual end of year Supplier’s function, usually held in late November. Receipts will be provided for any sponsorship on request.

Sponsorship Levels are as follows:

Silver: ($500-$999) = logos on BBUGS web page (linked to your home page) and on AV at meetings, free booth at supplier day if available space

Gold: ($1000-$1999) = logos in gold line on web page and meeting AV, preferential consideration on tours and for meeting presentation slots, free booth at supplier day

Platinum: ($2000+) = logos on top platinum line of web page and meeting AV, highest preferential consideration for spots on tours and for meeting presentation slots, guaranteed free booth and location choice at supplier day, sponsorship recognition certificate/plaque for reception display. Premium advertisement locations in advertising compendium.

Any contributions should be made to the Bowen Basin Underground Geotechnical Society. If you would like further information regarding sponsorship, including bank details or addresses, please contact Dan Payne by reply email or Michael O’Keefe through his details shown below.

Our next quarterly meeting is scheduled for February. We hope you can attend.

Also, please visit the web site at www.bbugs.org.au to see last year’s sponsor logo links. These will be removed by mid-February in favour of those that sponsor this year.

Many thanks for your consideration in the matter.

Sincerely,

Anna Mills
